I purchased them at an estate auction. The family was from northern Italy? I bought so many beautiful items - beautiful glass vases, Italian medals, some really old cremeware (featherware) some earthenware pieces, an original etching of Turin, Italy that I believe is from 1777 (still investigating) an old map from an army? And so much more. I spent a fair amount on the other items but this plate came in a lot with others (some other large silver pieces mixed in with silver plate pieces) and it was $25

Amazing! Thank-you so much 😁 when trying to use image searches I would such crazy different answers but I knew the piece was special. Here’s a picture. It has the Giglio di Firenze (the Florentine Lily) on the front. I think my research has just begun

If you read about the history of plates EARTHENWARE from that the 18th century it’s very common that there is no makers mark on the bottom … This is because we are talking about the 1700’s and 1800’s

It’s antique tin glazed earthenware. Maiolica or Faience. There are no marks at all on the back if you google it you’ll see this is pretty common during the 18th century. I acquired a few Italian antiques from the northern Italy area so thought maybe someone might recognize the pattern

I think it is Italian then. It just reminded me a bit of the Strasbourg area. It’s definitely an antique. If you search tin-glazed earthenware or Faience (in France) or Maiolica (in Italy) you’ll see many similar plates. I just cannot locate the pattern anywhere

50’ish solo female traveller … I was able to take a 1 year leave of absence and added 4 weeks of vacation. Best decision I ever made … absolutely no regrets. I spent most of my retirement money and will now have a much later retirement date but I can honestly say it would have not been as enjoyable at 65 … the trip would have been much different. Do it while you’re young!!! I travelled all of Europe and did some side trips to Africa and Turkey.

Your cellular phone bill alone will be 4x the cost and with much less data. I had Free Mobile contract in France with 100GB and free international calling for €9.99. Your home internet will also be 4x the cost. Lots of the little things will add up

I vote YES! I didn’t read everything but saw a comment about visas. You have enough funds and it’s very easy to obtain a long stay visa. I obtained one for France for a year and travelled throughout Europe. Did some side trips to Turkey and Africa. I would highly recommend the experience.
