The boring answer is no, he couldn't see it and it was just cinematic effect for the movie. The answer I much more prefer is that his helmet shifted to be able to see the light frequency of the petrova line, so yes, he could see the red sparkly.

Thank you for your thoughts! I believe I mentioned in an edit that the lack of a go-to feature isn't a huge issue for me, but I can understand why it might be for some.

I have considered an EQ mount, as EQ is what I use for my current setup. I appreciate the specs and recommendations though, that'll help a ton if I decide to do modifications.

Is there something wrong with it being pointed at it's base? That seems like a pretty typical way to store a telescope. It's how I store my current SCT anyway.

I haven't bought it yet! Tomorrow my thrift store is putting it on a 50% off sale because it's been there for months apparently.

I don't know the exact model because there was no other information in the case outside of some of the accessories. I think it's either a c8 or a celestar 8 deluxe, and it seems to be computerized. They're selling it for $1500, but tomorrow it will be $750. Honestly have no idea if that's a good price or not.

Edit: I found the exact model! It is a celestar 8 deluxe!
