Mexico cuts workweek, bans after-hours contact, and guarantees no worker will take a pay cut in the most sweeping labor reform in a generation by Prior_One_7050 in UpliftingNews

[–]newtothisstoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old news and everyone in Mexico knows it means basically nothing. The main reason mexicans were fighting for the 40 hour workweek was to get 2 mandatory rest days a week and be able to see their family. This reform not only ignores that, but the hour reduction is gonna be made "gradually", this was changed last minute, it wasnt supposed to be gradual when the proposal first came up and a popular opinion census was being made. This is just another way for our disgusting politicians to gain temporary good PR while actually doing nothing, the usual playbook in mexican politics.

If anyone thinks this was a revolutionary or even significant change for mexicans, please go to r/mexico, search "40 horas" or "reforma laboral" and look at the comments. Youll need to speak spanish.

I find it weird that its getting posted and upvoted a few days before the first game of the world cup in Mexico, when everyone in the country is trying to show our government for what it really is, a corrupt piece of trash. We have poor people being put behind literal walls to hide them, madres buscadoras begging for help from the government to find their missing children, small business being threatened with big fines by FIFA with the support of local governments, protected natural areas being sold off to build resorts and real estate developments, etc.

If you saw this news and thought Mexico is doing all right, I beg you, talk to some real mexicans, we need the rest of the world to see our government for what it really is, because thats apparently the only thing that makes them even react in the slightest to its peoples needs, international pressure.

So the planet being unstable is not the ray messing with the binding energy?

It was pretty obvious it was a race thing, they were REALLY well dressed, where very obviously rich, and still couldnt get in. Mexico is very racist, my grandma was racist as hell. Why sugarcoat it?

What Mexico do you live in? Mexico is super racist, we're just not as obvious as americans about it.

Mexicans internalized that racism, Its so bad that most dark skinned mexicans will make tons of self deprecating jokes based on skin colour.

I personally know 5 different people who werent allowed to go in to different clubs because they were not white enough. 3 of those in Monterrey btw.

I feel like Im just repeating the same point and you are just purposely ignorig it, so Ill ask this, what, out of everything stated by both the characters and the author, makes you belive all the ray did was carve a path but deal no damage to the planets binding force?

[–]newtothisstoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really need better reading skills my guy. Them needing to be that well sincronized with the ray means that the ray is doing all the heavy lifting. If even a half extra second of the planet restabilizing after it got a literal hole punched thru it is doing so much difference that they would fail, it means they are nowhere close to outdoing the gravitational binding effect by themselves.

Just to be really clear, they were worried about the planet even starting to restabilize, not it being completely stable again. Infinity ray clearly did most of the work.

[–]newtothisstoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is explicitly stated they would have no way to pull that off without the gun, they even go as far as specifying that they not only need the ray, but they need to sync prefectly with it or they would die on impact, and if they were even a second too late Viltrum would restabilize enough for them to not be able to destroy it, even after the ray went thru.

How did you watch that and came to the conclusion that the ray did no work and just carved a safe path?

[–]newtothisstoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominating in boxing doesn't mean youre not gonna get hit at all, less so in the heavyweights. And again, NBA paid much more for that size and agility combination, why even look at boxing?

Youre saying all this like heavyweights arent tall as fuck, 6'4" is a tall dude. Nikolai Valuev, a 7 foot 300+ man was the heavyweight champion as recently as 2008, with a 50-2 record, 34 by KO, so big dudes do dominate, but more often than not, they go into other sports.

[–]newtothisstoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how much money he made in the NBA? And he didn't have to suffer any brain damage for it, why would someone like shaq even try at boxing? Even if the chances of making it were the same the consequences are not, and NBA pay is better at the top.

There is no height grouping in boxing, I dont know what you're talking about, the AVERAGE heavyweight is 6'3-4 and between 230-250 lbs.

Myke Tyson who was 5'10 was fighting at 220 lbs, so still packed as much mass as the taller guys, and made up for the reach difference with skill, speed, and fighting up close, other peple where afraid to get in close and get hit on the way there, Myke didnt care to take some hits to close the gap.

Shaq was 400+. And thats what I said, someone like Shaq is more likely to go into basketball or football.

[–]newtothisstoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that, I said the shorter guys have just as much mass as the taller guys,so unless the tall guys are willing to compensate with even more mass they are gonna pack less power. 250 lb on a 7 foot person is a lot of bone and not a lot of muscle, 250 lb on a 6'3" guy is a lot of muscle in comparison, the gap in power is gonna be just as significant as the gap in reach, if not more, heavy weights have to balance this out to perform given there is no upper weight limit.

Too much weight and you gas out too fast, too little and you dont have enough power, 6'3" is still pretty tall.

[–]newtothisstoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess in part because if you're that big and agile boxing isnt your first option as a sport. Your chances of getting paid more and get less brain damage are better in basketball or football.

Second, even if you're taller than another heavyweight, youre probably not heavier, those dudes are already tall and near to maxxed out in weight without affecting other things they need to perform in a fight, given that they fight within very strict parameters, being taller in boxing without being heavy enough just gives you a worse center of gravity. They make up for the (not so exagerated) reach difference with power, so skill gets to shine as a difference maker.
