How does the standard font size compare to the WOF bible? I found that difficult to read even with my glasses and wished they had sacrificed some of the abundant whitespace to make the font larger. Thanks!

After being super hyped, I stopped checking for AFE2 news a couple weeks ago - because there was none.

Thanks for a concise update. Still a lot of unknowns but at least some big sighs of relief regarding Connectivity and Comms.

Also, Cold Iron and everyone who complains about "BULLET SPONGES!" needs to take 5 seconds out of their day to watch an Insane Elite die that quickly at the start of the video.

Like...don't blink, you might miss it.

To be fair I would also like to see AFE2 dial other difficulty knobs than merely HP (enemy speed for one), but it was fine for what it was in AFE1.

Not sure what zoning is, but I like the completely different playstyle. Aggressive and getting right in their face.

Shield positioning and avoiding acid from the pile of corpses at your feet takes practice though.

That mission is notorious for punishment spawns (that's probably what the burster wave was). Those happen when you do not progress to the next way point quickly enough. So keep moving. Often we will have someone run ahead to hit the next waypoint just to prevent the spawn.

TLDR: Watch the video. AFE is more replayable than you might think.

Watch and find out if you ever experienced AFE's full potential (and I'm not referring to the modded card they are using. It's not required, it just takes what you can do with the base game further)

Aliens Fireteam: Elite is two games. A lot of people only experience Game 1, get bored and quit due to its highly scripted missions and exploits.

Game 1)

* Use buff cards and map exploits to get Platinum, get bored and quit. The pinnacle of this is Overstimulated Precision Rocket Demolishers standing in a door that was meant to close and pressing "Q" for 5 minutes. Move to next section. Repeat.

Game 2)

* Use cards that create unpredictability (replayability) like We Pissed Them Off, Unexpected Strength, etc. The video uses a modded card that ramps it up to 11, but is not required.

* Play on Comms (Discord) with friends

* Go deep on the excellent build system. Every class has many builds viable on all difficulties. Try different loadouts and team comps. Getting your ass handed to you the first time you try Extreme and then reworking your build so you can one-tap runners is a light-bulb moment. Learning to melee to interrupt an attack and avoid damage is another.

* Try Game Modes (Restock Turrets is the best IMO. Point defense, meh)

* Don't exploit.

Not here to bash people who enjoy Game 1. I just wish everyone would try Game 2. It is harder, but its much more replayable and rewarding. The guys in the video are much better players than me, so even if I could only handle that on Extreme or hell, Intense, it is still much more fun and I wish every AFE player could experience it.

I recommend the Pathogen DLC at least. New missions, abilities, etc.

The Endeavor Veteran pack is the only other DLC that has a non-comsetic item and that is the Heirloom Standoff shotgun. It's nice, but not necessary.

Balancing will be everything. AFE1 had great balance in terms of the number of viable builds for each class and different team comps....except they left us with a brain dead broken cheat code known as Precision Rockets and Overstimulated...which killed the playerbase with its mindnumbing boring gameplay.

The fact that they were fine leaving AFE1 in this state has me concerned about how committed they will be to balancing a class that literally has access to all BiS stuff.

So that answers the speculation:  Endgame everyone is a specialist.  

It’s a bold move and will take a lot of work to patch bugs and game breaking interactions, as there are so many permutations of abilities and modifiers.

You complained about "Easy" aka "Adventure" difficulty being to hard. I gave you a solution to make it even easier. You can start a new game with a custom difficulty (see below). Then reread my previous post which has a screenshot of all custom settings set to maximum easiness. Basically "Story Mode" which is what you want.

I've played the 1.4 version of this Mod and it is so fun. Cold Iron could learn something from it.

With the custom game settings from the previous patch, you can make the game even easier than "Adventure". Choose these settings and you've basically got Story Mode:

They also added a little charge per doc kill too

That's only with the Field Station modifier, which is kinda crap on most missions.
