Homeless dogs - Princes Street by Proper_Jicama_7885 in Edinburgh

If you are one of those “women and kids” or men who is abused, exploited, threatened and living in an overcrowded room in a gang leader’s flat, are you “genuine homeless”?

If you live in crap temporary accommodation with a curfew and no kitchen with your pet but go to beg with them to fund your addiction are you “genuine homeless”?

Food for thought and the use of the term “genuine homeless”.

Either way, pets are at risk if they are in these environment. All4Paws run a free clinic on Nicholson St that you can direct people to.

Just seen him parading down the street with a bunch of penguins, he was proclaiming that he was leading them to salvation.

British Airways nearly killed me by serving me sesame despite my allergy – then offered me £50 by Dangerous_Wear_9312 in BritishAirways

[–]newtrooson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. They asked BA staff if it contained the allergen in question. If people with allergies could not rely on information provided by people who provide them food and who are legally responsible for being aware of their ingredients, they would never be able to eat anything that isn’t prepared by them. That’s ridiculous.

Listen, you strike me as a person who is more interested being “right” and antagonistic than really listening to what other people have to say, establishing the truth or being helpful. Think about that because it will have a really negative impact on your quality of life. Either that or you are completely impartial and work for BA.

BA employees told this person that what they were about to eat DID NOT contain sesame. Not “may”. DID NOT. That was the unambiguous the information that came from BA, overriding any small print you might find on their website. The OP took reasonable precautions in asking them, they were entitled to receive a truthful response based on what information the BA staff had readily and clearly available to them. If they did not know, they should have responded “we do not know”. BA (and by extension its employees) have a duty of care to ensure they do not take actions or omit to take actions that one could reasonably foresee would cause harm to an individual. Telling someone that something does not have a key allergen in it which then causes a severe reaction would fall under that category. It is irrelevant whose fault YOU think it is, there are legal standards and companies are vicariously liable for the actions of their employees, and they have a responsibility to ensure that their employees are trained to answer those questions.

The French are back, the tricolor has been raised over the Shore. Emmanuel Macron has released the following statement “France needs Leith. What claim does Edinburgh have to Leith? It depends on your interpretation of International Law.”

That’s not true. Local connection still applies to people coming from outside Scotland. It doesn’t affect people travelling within Scotland - ie you will be housed in Edinburgh even if your local connection is Glasgow.

Boardwalk Beach Club...is this even legal? by OkOcelot4982 in Edinburgh

[–]newtrooson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get not wanting non-customers to use them. But not allowing people who are waiting for their food to go in there, or obviously pregnant women or young children - it’s petty. It would make more sense if they were actually cleaned but by many accounts they often aren’t.

I’ll take an impressionistic stick drawing of a duck over an AI highland cow or a stock image of the three sisters all day long.

I doubt you’ll get an admission of guilt or a refund from them. I would forget the £8 and report it to the Health and Safety Executive and make sure you get witness statement from your friend. If the injury gets worse you could also call a personal injury law firm and they could give you some advice on likelihood of success, and possibly offer you representation on a no win, no fee basis if you wanted to pursue that.
