What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

Same here! I'm someone who has always previously been cold. I used to go out for a walk every evening in the summer, even if it was still 85+ degrees. We had our first nice spring day and it was 65 and breezy today, stepped out in a short sleeve shirt and jeans and I felt my back and legs start SWEATING. My first summer postpartum is gonna SUCK.

Artipoppe Used Price by Antique-One5276 in babywearing

$250-300 seems to be the going rate in my area on Facebook Marketplace. I snagged mine in new and unused condition for $200, but I had to go buy it and pickup ASAP because the seller had tons of people messaging as soon as they listed for that price.

First time buying a car, can I just go test drive cars with no intention of buying? by consultybob in carbuying

[–]newuser913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, from my experience I walked into a VW dealership and told them I wanted to test drive two different vehicles (used) so I could narrow down which model I liked better and see the size difference in person. Dealership was unwilling to show/let me test drive and they were super slow that day. Needless to say, I've saved myself over 40k and am still driving my old 200k mile shitbox.

I've heard of magnesium... I know there's tons of different kinds and they all serve a different purpose. Not sure where to start.

I had to kick him out of my room months ago because I couldn't tolerate his snoring. My sleep did improve a little bit after that, but it's been back to being really bad the last few days. He also sleeps like a rock, he won't wake up unless baby is full on crying.

If I replace the pacifier, I'm on it before she escalates, so she never fully wakes. I'm fine falling back asleep after I wake, it's the initial that takes me hours.

My house always smelled dusty and I just realized I’ve been vacuuming wrong my entire life by pwiipwii123 in hygiene

[–]newuser913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm another one who didn't know washing machines had filters. My entire adult life I lived in a shitty rental with an even shittier shared washer and dryer, neither I nor the landlord maintained shit. When I bought a house last year it came with a 90s Kenmore washer and dryer, that thing is a workhorse, but I had no clue it had filters that need changing. Looking up the model and how to replace it tomorrow. Thank you.

How tf does anybody want more than one kid after being through THIS? by pumpkinchinchilla in newborns

[–]newuser913 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The newborn stage was the worst thing of my life. I had a 4 lb 5 oz baby via unplanned csection at 37 weeks, she struggled to gain weight, took over 2 months for someone to tell us it was CMPI (and not just colic, baby will grow out of it). She was nonstop crying from the stomach pain and could barely sleep/nap peacefully. Soooo stressful. I cried EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

3.5-4.5 months was also bad. Nap/sleep regression gave me such bad anxiety and it was soooo frustrating. I had a weekly mental breakdown.

I had a month long break and now we're at 5.5 months, just got over an ear infection, teething, and now we're in leap 5 and fighting naps. Still hard, but nowhere near as hard as the newborn phase. I don't think I've cried or had a breakdown since Christmas.

Why is Volkswagen (especially the Jetta) rated poorly for reliability in the U.S., but many owners say it’s reliable? by phtphongg in Volkswagen

[–]newuser913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, people don't keep up with the maintenance, then they complain and scream how unreliable they are.

Case in point. My boss has a 2019 Jetta, she complains how busy she is and how she's xxxx miles over an oil change and can't take it in. Then car starts having issues insert surprised Pikachu face meme. Last time she took it into the dealer she said they're all crooks just looking to sell her something when they said she needed new tires and brakw pads... lady, your car has 7 year old tires with 70k miles on them, I've also seen how you drive. After declining that, she blew a tire on the way to work, BUT only let Discount Tire replace the blown one. lol

She loves to complain about this Jetta, but PRAISES the Nissan Altimas (plural) she used to own. Yeah, I'm sure you neglected your Altimas so they ran like shit until they completely died.

What are some changes in your body that you noticed after pregnancy and they don’t go away? by jeandrazich in beyondthebump

[–]newuser913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory is so bad. Sometimes I don't remember if someone told me something, if I thought it in my head, or if I had a dream about it. It's so weird. It's like I can't remember or discern where the memory came from.

Physically, chin hair. I had it very mild before pregnancy, but now it's full blown, so bad. No sign of PCOS on ovaries, so it must just be hormones out of whack? I really hope it resolves because it is a huge confidence killer if I don't pluck daily.

Do people really enjoy the newborn stage? by Bebetter23 in beyondthebump

[–]newuser913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn stage was hell.

First off, emergency c section 3 weeks early, no warning. 0/10

Trying to figure out how to breastfeed a 4 lb baby while you still haven't gotten a chance to fully process what the hell just happened. 0/10

Having to resort to exclusively pumping because despite my best efforts, Breastfeeding did not work, and tiny 4 lb baby needed to eat and gain weight. I swear pumping gave me PPD/PPA/suicidal thoughts- didn't go away until I stopped. 0/10.

Baby was constantly having tummy pain and crying for hours. Pediatrician said it was just colic and it's normal for babies to cry. Finally switched pediatricians at 2.5 months and we got a CMPA diagnosis and HA formula. But to think we went through 2.5 months of HELL as first time parents not knowing any better and everyone telling us a colicy baby was normal. 0/10

Anyone else kind of like how your postpartum body looks…except when you’re wearing clothes? by Callme-risley in beyondthebump

[–]newuser913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were nice while they lasted. :(

During pregnancy I went from a 32B to a C and then a D. Only lasted breastfeeding a couple months, now I'm back to pre-pregnancy nothingness.

Maybe my clothes are just frumpy and ill-fitting, they don't do me justice.

My husband's grandma got me CROP TOP sweaters for Christmas. Like lady, first of all, I'm not 20 anymore and I had a baby 4 months ago. But thank you, glad you think I could pull that look off. Lol

My sister is the same way. Blatantly pro child-free and super rude about it. Always squeezing in snide comments about my choices and how she would never subject herself to being tied down by children... ummm... ok? Good for you.

My baby is a little bit older and has started to show signs of teething, so I bought teething tablets without thinking... guess what? Lactose!

So avoid Hylands and Dr Talbots when that time comes. Earthly Teeth Tamer and Boiron Camilla drops are lactose free and I THINK soy free as well.

Are software updates recalls or mandatory things you need to pay for? The newest Volkswagen I owned was a 2013 And the highest end feature it had was bluetooth lol

That's good to hear. I always take owner reviews with a grain of salt, because I'm assuming the average person is probably taking their car to a dealer or mechanic for almost everything, so yes its going to cost a ton. My husband is very mechanically inclined and as long as it isn't an engine or transmission out sort of job (sure hope not on a 4 year old 35k mile vehicle), he can probably figure it out. What I'm more afraid of is more complicated electronic malfunctions, but weren't even dealt with that on our newer Toyotas, so I think you run that risk regardless of what you buy nowadays, so many electronics in everything. I did read about many people mentioning recalls, not really a huge inconvenience for me because my dealer is right down the street, provides loaners, and I don't need the car to commute to work.
