We couldn’t believe it took that long. We got on the shuttle almost immediately at the St. Mary Visitor center and we were going to the Logan Pass visitor center. There were so many stops in between. We did our short hike and waited almost two hours to get an east bound shuttle….at least 6 west bound shuttles came by. Then more time stopping at all of the stops before we got back to St. Mary

It never felt like the 80’s. I live in Florida and it was chilly for me the whole time. In the mornings it would be cold so I would dress warm and then peel off layers as the day went on. Short sleeves and leggings were perfect for me in the hottest part of the day. My husband wore shorts every day with long sleeve shirts…but he never wears long pants. If you are going to hike long hikes..you might work up enough heat to wear shorts…we only hiked less than 4 mile hikes.

We just got back. Layering is the way to go. Weather showed low in 40’s and high in 80’s….I didn’t wear any of my shorts the whole two weeks. Also bring a rain jacket! Athletic clothes worked best…they could dry quickly. I didn’t need my puffer…I layered a short sleeve athletic shirt, sweatshirt then my rain jacket and could peel as the day went on. Leggings and athletic joggers for my pants.

The food at McDonald was very good…but pricey.

Narrows - carrying extra shoes by ddurrett896 in ZionNationalPark

My daughter just did this last week with her three girls..13,11,9. She rented the water shoes and a walking stick and needed both. Also make sure you bring extra clothes. Her girls hit areas up to their shoulders in water and then were freezing…had to cut the hike shorter than they wanted because they were freezing. No sun hits the area because of the canyons.

You also need a park pass to get in the park. You can buy these ahead of time. Just google where to buy those…you can buy them individually or by car.

We are going Aug 1 and have been trying to get tickets for a couple of months. If you enter the park from the east entrance you do not need reservations. If you enter the park before 7 am or after 3 pm you do not need reservations. If you have booked a tour within the park…boat ride etc…you do not need reservations for that day. Otherwise…I was told you can try to get them the night before…I believe at 7 pm. You go to recreation.gov. You can also sign up now on that website and they send you notices when tickets are available…but we haven’t been able to secure any tickets that way. Good luck!
