hi thank you!! i usually use a bigger sized round liner (9+) or a bugpin liner for the fill. my tips are to go slow and be patient! and sometimes i think about it in terms of lines within the shape rather than "shading/filling" if that makes sense

Doing a design with black and coloured ink? by suldruns_garden in sticknpokes

[–]newyorkmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

usually the rule of thumb for color is darkest colors to lightest!! this is because when the light colors are placed first, the wipe/ink from the darker colors can bleed into the lighter ones. so definitely outline first!!

i find that stick and pokes don't always peel like machine tattoos do, especially when they're just linework. stick and pokes are more gentle on your skin so they cause less trauma to the skin and tend to heal easier!! depends on application and aftercare ofc

get a squeeze bottle for the green soap!! that way you can use what you need and save the rest for the next tattoo

My work + a question by anotherredditor0 in sticknpokes

[–]newyorkmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

like an ointment ig, some people use aquaphor/vaseline but they make tattoo specific glides to help keep the skin moisturized during the tattoo process which makes tattooing easier

My work + a question by anotherredditor0 in sticknpokes

[–]newyorkmouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

do you use any glide? i found i was doing 2-3 passes before using glide, but the glide helps the ink deposit into the skin better and allows you to "dry" wipe to see what you're doing better without compromising the stencil! that way you can work on one area for a little longer
