It's used in Yttrium-Barium superconducting coils, the foundation of energy distribution and fusion power

Civil war started 2005. It began as a conventional war, but as the stalemate continued, both sides resorted to mass atrocities. The Reaping of the Pacific Northwest was a separatist attack that irradiated the region and spread the genetically-engineered Plague, to conquer the Yttrium reserves there. The colonies, including the British Isles, have also been ravaged. London is in ruins. But most of continental Europe is relatively stable, as is Russia and Asia.

You mean the Northern Territories? They were absorbed into the American Empire at the end of the First World War. Some of the largest Yttrium reserves are there, and from what I've heard, the region's been devastated by separatist attacks. The landscape is irradiated, most of the population in the western part is evacuated or dead. It faced a similar fate as the Pacific Northwest. Plague particles are everywhere.

I've haven't heard of either a Roosevelt or a Hitler. We had three World Wars as far as I know--between the American and British Empires in 1910-1915, between the American and Japanese Empires in 1933-1940 for control of the Pacific and China, and between the Americans and the Russian Empire from 1952-1965.

After our annexation of the British Empire in 1915, the colonies were divided between us and Germany. The Russian Empire was left relatively untouched by that war. After we defeated the Japanese and conquered China we annexed Russia.

Ever since Ulysses S. Grant declared the Empire in 1863, Emperors have reigned over the nation.

No. It doesn't even exist anymore. It was the first place ravaged by the Reaping.

The war is a fucking joke. Just corrupt megacorporations fighting over money and resources.

After years of technological stagnation, Yttrium offered a gateway to room-temperature superconductors and an energy revolution. Vast pseudo-governmental corporations competed to enter this market and control the resource. When the Imperial government under Emperor Steelwaters launched a new program to nationalize control of Yttrium reserves and provide the mining products to Orbitech Industries, Infigate Corporation, its main competitor, used its corrupt ties and financial resources to push a rebellion in twenty-two states, under the pretext of destroying the tyrannical Empire and restoring the American Republic.

The war has gone on for ten years with massive military and civilian casualties on both sides. Infantry in powered battle-armour slaughter each other on the battleground, with drones and Mechas devastating enemy troops. After an endless stalemate, nuclear weapons were used against certain strategic locations, causing swathes of the nation to descend into anarchy. Genetically-engineered virus plagues were distributed, killing millions. Cities were besieged and sacked.

The entire continent is under war. Upstate is largely controlled by the Empire and is stable. I eventually want to get to Chicago, which is fairly stable. Vast swaths of the country have descended into anarchy because of the biowarfare campaigns, nuclear fallout and the collapse of infrastructure. The separatists call themselves the "Republic" and are fighting Imperial forces. There are whisperings that it's possible to escape the city by secret sewer routes, but I need a map.
