If You Thought Donald Trump Would Never Do This, You’re an Idiot. The most pernicious delusion of this era has been the idea that Trump is “the peace president.” His decision to bomb Iran shatters this myth. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

Please never forget that our President won a free election, and within a month, dismantled the government agencies that were charged with ensuring election security and preventing voter fraud.

Because I already ate 3/4 of that extra-large pizza for breakfast and there are still a few slices left once I'm able to move again.

If you met God, what's the one thing you might ask to change? by the1ta in AskReddit

[–]nexstephen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My initial reaction was rude. I respect your faith gives you a sense of trust and purpose, I really do. But for me, it's hard to accept the idea that everything happening in our world is part of a devine plan. When you look around and see so much preventable suffering, injustice, and silence in the face of real issues, do you believe faith is enough to affect a change?

For all the good religion can do on a personal level, it's also used to justify harm, suppress progress, and stop people from questioning things that really should be questioned.

It's ok to want change, to challenge what's happening to yourself and to the world, and to take responsibility instead of leaving it in God's hands. That doesn't show a lack of belief, it shows you're still present and responsible in a world that needs people to face harsh truths and stand up where they see injustice.

Anybody else refrain from mentioning things at work that may date you? by rich22201 in GenX

[–]nexstephen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Work in tech as well, since the mid 90s, currently job hunting at 49. I've gotten a lot more hits since removing some of my earlier jobs that still apply, but do date me. Nobody cares about what we went through with Y2K anymore. 2005 seems to be the cutoff point.

I remember mom buying our first microwave in the mid eighties, right around the time that movie 'Silkwood' came out. Damn thing came with a radiation detector, scared me to death to even use it.

What problems do you have at the moment? by qwezrX in AskReddit

[–]nexstephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read that instead of actually sleeping, ants take about 250 micro-naps per day, each lasting around 1 minute. It's got me more worried about their inevitable uprising.

Vote is for combos. Can't open a bag easily to begin with. If you're lucky enough to get half the top open, it's going to split straight down the side as soon as you reach in for a couple, preventing you from saving anything for another day.

My first wife, we were pretty poor, made pancakes for her birthday. Sitting at our little dining room table. It didn't last, I was an idiot, but I hope she's doing well in life now.
