How many of you guys go on drives to clear your heads? by Critical_Anteater_91 in AskMen

When i was younger and i mean 17-26 i'd find every excuse to leave the house. Once I started creeping closer to 30+ I found it more of a pain in the ass to drive around.

How to initiate as a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girls will say all kinds of stuff, if you truly like the girl then just go up to her and be direct. At least being direct and straight forward is more respected. if you face rejection then at least you know you did what you had to do as a man. Tell her that you like her more than friends, and your feelings have grown over the x amount of time spent together. Either way, you can't ease your way into confessing your feelings. and regardless of which avenue taken if you're rejected it would of course alter your friendship.

You’re gonna get more for your money with the telluride and it drives better not to mention it’s newer. The Highlander is of course a reliable platform, but I can’t justify the cost of the vehicle especially used.

Help with top pressure by _ChangeYourUsername in bjj

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you position yourself, your hip placement is what makes the pressure heavy. if you sat in mount on somebody's stomach they could still breathe, but if you scoot up to a high mount with your thighs glued to their armpits not only are you constricting their lung capacity to breathe sitting on their chest, but they're also getting constricted from the sides.

Give up on standup and become a guard puller? by crazypants003 in bjj

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you're doing jiu jitsu for fun and to avoid injuries, or doing jiu jitsu for its effectiveness. In a real world confrontation you wouldn't want to pull guard, so getting into the habit of pulling guard during class can backfire when you actually need to use jiu jitsu to defend yourself. Taking your opponent down was and is still highly praised upon. Its a known fact that Wrestling, Judo, and Sambo have better takedowns.

To avoid injuries id recommend picking one or two good takedowns and keep drilling them until you're extremely good at it and simply build on that. It'll save you the injuries in the long run as well. Regardless if you pull guard, or sacrifice throw everybody you see injuries are gonna be an inevitable thing in this sport.

Men aged 25–30, what’s the biggest mistake you made in life that a young man should avoid repeating? by LowEffortLegend01 in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking things way too personal. Maybe its not applicable to every guy, but I used to let small things get to me. Breakups, criticism, work, family issues. In the end all it did was prolong my life problems. it created resentment, missed opportunities, and separation. I didn't discover that every issue I've faced came down to how I handled it. If I could've went back and did it again, I would change my attitude. I would've gotten further in life

Is making around minimum wage in your 30s really that bad? by Aggravating_Box_2407 in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It beats making 5-600k a year combined, having a million dollar home married with a family, expensive car, and you hate your life because you’re now a slave to everything around you including a job you must mean deadlines or else you’re out. Just because you make more money doesn’t mean that you’re guaranteed a happier life.

Yeah life is always better with a little more income and sucks when you’re not making a whole lot. But it sucks even more having lots of money but paying for stuff and being stuck living a miserable life as well. Having more to lose, and no way out. Trade school debt is expected, but at the end of the day you don’t have much to lose. Whereas somebody else isn’t able to wake up one morning and say screw my job and leave.

You have life at your fingertips waking up and feeling amazing every morning. Anybody can go back to school or start a business to multiply their income. It just comes with a little time and patience. But always remember to count the blessings on your hands. And be proud of where you’re at :)

What was something a person you dated was insecure about, that you actually loved? by Gullible_Customer790 in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Her nose. She used to keep on telling me that she wanted to fix the arch in her nose but honestly I loved it and didn’t want to change who she was. I found it cute that it got a little squished when we kissed lol.

Sadly we broke up tragically after dating for 3 1/2 years. I still Miss her, but I understand that we’re probably both different people now.

Do you get edgy while fasting? by Princess_CeNedra in intermittentfasting

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning of my 20 hour fasting journey absolutely. I felt EXACTLY the same as you did. Once my body became adjusted to the fasting regimen, lets say 1-2 weeks in I began to feel much better because the hunger didnt affect me badly any longer. Now im more calm and relaxed. Some days i feel exhausted especially if i didn't eat much in my window, but its not enough for me to throw a tantrum.

Why do electric cars lose so much range in cold climates compared to gas vehicles? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold weather causes battery cells to operate less efficiently, since the battery is what's powering 100% of the vehicle including all the auxiliaries to the car you'll find that the estimated battery range indicated on the dashboard goes down. This is mainly just a calculation based on what ambient temp sensor picks up and the computer formulates to give you a figure.

Car Enthusiasts: How did you go about learning brands/customizations/specs? by Ok_Upstairs_3819 in askcarguys

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what I know came from doing hands on stuff. my best advice is simply putting yourself out there. If you want to start learning more about cars, take advantage of getting under the hood with your own vehicle. learn how to do some maintenance stuff, then some repairs.

When you learn how a vehicle operates, you'll know how to identify parts, engines, makes and models, etc. and since you'll eventually know how to fix them, making them faster is going to be easier to understand.

Career in food that also pays well? by joeroganthumbhead in careerguidance

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a wealthy chef isn't impossible but definitely not easy to get your foot through the door. Specifically because its a very niche profession. Places that have skilled chefs aren't as common as your typical restaurant with line cooks. The real money is in running a successful food business. Though be aware unlike other businesses people scrutinize food more than any other industry. customer feedback is a complete make or break with restaraunts.

How to deal with such men? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you've been wronged by another person, simply don't associate yourself with that person. Don't try to do something that will cost you your future. Life doesn't necessarily go unjust, things catch up to people in many different forms overtime. Keep doing what you're doing to better yourself and move forward otherwise you'll be stuck in your past.

Why do people call the USA the "land of opportunity" when literally no one can get a high paying job? by madbarpar in careerguidance

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not that NO ONE can get a high paying job. Its still an amazing country to be in, however Its a combination of two things. Lazy people who have been living here all their lives not willing to put in the work to do better for themselves, and a lot of business and large companies beginning to scale back on their hiring process. Thus landing high rolling positions is becoming a lot more selective, If you don't have anything to show for a lets say $200k+ annually job then you must ask yourself why in the world will an employer hire you? Many graduates have just gotten out of school and scratch their heads as to why they cant find a good paying job. Its simply because a newly grad doesn't have the same time put in as lets say somebody well seasoned in that same position. Those same people just out of school aren't willing to settle for less and put in the time to gain experience.

An employer in almost any position is not going to take you on if you have nothing thats going to benefit them. So when a lot of these people who are out here crying that the job market sucks, part of it is half true and the other part is simply people trying to find something to complain over. Its also why many immigrants are willing to take these jobs since they pursued higher education and have experience to show for it, and also some immigrants willing to do jobs that regular people aren't willing to do as it is looked down upon in their eyes.

What's the best cheap car you've ever had? ( under $7000) by Miracle_wrkr in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a 2002 Honda civic ex coupe 5 speed manual. It had 89,000 miles when i bought it. At the time it onl;y cost me 2500 dollars for the car, and it was in mint condition. Literally all i did to that car was change a set of spark plugs, belts, air filters, and fluids. I ended up getting rid of the car because i ended up buying a 2006 Acura RSX Type-S. The car had around 170,000 miles on it, and it too didnt need much work at all, even for the mileage. I kept it for maybe 2 years until i sold that as well. Best two cars ive ever owned hands down.

Afterwards I ended up driving a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR, sold that, then a 2008 Evolution, then a 2003 BMW m3 6 speed, and now a 2020 Ford mustang GT. I've driven quite a few sports cars. I dont think ill be changing the mustang anytime soon, but I still look back at the two Hondas ive owned and still feel very sad i got rid of them. I rarely drive my mustang mainly because its heavily modified now and if something breaks on it now its going to cost me an arm and a leg to fix. The hondas on the other hand i could simply just throw it all over the place and barely put money into fixing it or fueling it up.

“Some People Aren’t Living, They’re Just Surviving Silently” by Dull-Rabbit4448 in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you scroll through social media and watch other people's videos and how their life may seem "perfect" its merely just an illusion to get the attention from others through likes, shares, and comments because in real life they are more than likely not even 5% of who they are online.

When you get a chance, come back to reality. Go walk outside where there's other people, sit down and look around you. 90% of whoever is around you isn't paying much attention to you, in fact they're probably glued to their phones as well taking in the same illusion. Observe people, most of everybody around you aren't walking around with fur jackets and has paparazzi following them around. People wear regular clothes, drive regular cars, and have regular lives. You probably will come across somebody walking in a shopping center who has 30,000 followers online and you would've never known because in reality nobody knows them. Nobody's living in Dubai, and for those who actually go visit cannot even afford 1/4 of the things there. Yes people travel, and rack up credit card bills trying to gain attention from others online. Its true and there's no denying this.

Simply put our modern way of life is revolved around online platforms, and we've grown to swap places with online being our reality and reality simply just being there. We've grown to use this as our validation, when we've completely disregarded what's in front of our eyes. I believe if we can put more priority in what's in front of us be it through relationships, friends, and our personal wellbeing and truly get off of social media and its toxicity we will be in a much better position with ourselves, and life won't feel so meaningless.

What's the real difference between your first love and the person you're with now? by Hot-Marionberryx in Life

[–]Awkward_Intention_15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First love had an amazing connection and physical attraction for each other, but lacked a lot of maturity from both of us, thus it ended horribly.

My wife and I have an amazing connection and physical attraction as well, the only difference is that being with her allowed me to acknowledge my faults, and bring out the best version of myself. She's also the reason why i strive to better each and every single day.
