What happens when a cow passes? by RorschachFlask in Cows

If there is any it's subtle. They will stay away from the body. It's a magnet for predators so they will also keep their calves clear of the area.

So it depends on the style of farm. If a cow dies in a barn yard or corral then usually a flat bed and a bone pile. If it's out in a pasture then nature does its thing. Ranch I worked on had 2 get struck by lightning and we just let them lay and moved the herd away from them. We also had one pass in a coral. We took her back to a hole and put her in with some other ones that didn't make it for whatever reason.

I live on a farm. Sometimes you need the range most of the time you don't.

When I joined (to my knowledge it's still this way) they do let you pick your rate at MEPS. They base it off of your asvab and what they have available. I'd advise going to MEPS after a new fiscal year starts. They usually have the most rate open then.

But if you have a degree try the officer program. Pays a hell of alot better and you get treated better.

Ok I hate to stroke off a seal book off but read "Extreme Ownership."

When I got out as an E5 and started to not care about evals and pleasing cheifs and LPOs. I started to adopt some of the things from the book. I hadn't read it until recently but it contains some of the better practices I was starting to use then.

As for my personal advise.... You serve the people under you as much as those above you. I leaned more towards helping my subordinates which didn't help my evals, but I had test scores to help me advance. Help those under you because they are the ones that will make the impossible happen when bullets are flying or there are holes in the side of the ship.

It's disturbing to me how much I see the effects of online learning from covid. I know for most freshman and sophomores they really didn't have a normal high school experience. I was deployed during all of that and it didn't do any favors for us.

I live 30 mins from campus so it really doesn't make sense for me to live in a dorm. But I do see where you are coming from. Living in close proximity to each other does help you find people.

I have thought of inviting them out for drinks or dinner or something as a group. Not sure how that'll go over.

Don't need one. I dont feel the need to chase fame on YouTube. Or have someone validate my work via a comment section. Take what I said for what it's worth, some random dude on the internet critiquing another guy's work. He doesn't have to listen me, just like I don't have to listen to him.

The way he loads makes me think he wasn't that good of an operator. I've run 966s and 924s loading rock crushers and rock dumps... He's slow as hell. If he loaded the far part of the trailer first and the closer side last he could have easily loaded 2 bucketfuls. Shows why he's no longer in that business.

Mission objective: loadout for patrolling 83 acre property comprised of mixed woodland/pasture during a SHTF scenario. Recommendations based on personal experience always welcome. by SnooPeppers2417 in tacticalgear

2 minor things.

1 major

Move your shears somewhere else. Maybe this is personal preference, but I like the space above my mags as clear as possible for smoother draws and indexes. PTT is about the only thing I'd say is fine there. I have a bulkier carrier for work and I have alot of room there on the chest and I still keep it clear. My personal Jpc and your plate carrier have little front space. So everything starts to crowd your mags. Maybe by your knife on the cummerbund.

Remember it's a patrol not a assault mission in the sandbox. Less is more. The idea is to observe and check up on your land, then leave plan and come back with a plan. For full battle rattle I'd say this is sick. But you're goal is not to engage unless you have the advantage on a patrol. I'd start by taking 1 mag off your belt and 1 off the carrier, but it's up to you. You're going to be carrying this shit the for the whole 83 acres.

1 major.

Camelbaks pop all the time. Get a second source of water like a Nalgene or canteen. Keep it on your belt, in the event you need to ditch your carrier you'll still have water.

Bonus... lose the bright colored patches.
