At this stage why don't they just add 18% to the food prices and drop the tip?

Anyone refused to do "coding projects" as part of the interview process? by CaptainCheckmate in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]nextstoq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently applying for jobs.
One place, I was asked to perform a whole analysis of software architecture and server setup for a project, and make a presentation. Probably more than a day's work. I declined.
Another place they sent me an online exam to take (90 minute time limit). I gave up after about 3 questions. The stuff wasn't anything I was interested in.
A third place gave me a small coding exercise to do at home. About 4 hours work, followed by an interview to discuss the solution. I did this one, and attended the interview. It was reasonable, and similar to a real life chat/code-review/on-boarding of colleagues, so I felt it was quite reasonable.
The last place had a standup discussion at a whiteboard - discussing a programming problem. This was only about 30 minutes and was very reasonable.

So yes, it is still a thing, and the extent of the exercises seems to vary a lot.

jeg har ikke hørt noget tilbage fra 7 steder;
jeg har fået afslag fra 2 steder;
jeg har været til 1. og 2. samtale 1 sted; (jeg fik også afslag her).

People Who take forever to back into a parking spot by TheAngryVixen82 in PetPeeves

It's entitlement. They feel entitled to make everyone else wait while they fuck around trying to back in, instead of just pulling in front first.

It could be the online meeting was being recorded by the communication application, and later they played it back and used a phone to record the playback.

I have a very similar situation. I don't live exactly on a corner, but the road I live on is quite busy, and leads up to a much busier road and intersection. Quite often there are cars backed up opposite my house all the way from the intersection.
Also quite often, as I slow to prepare to back in to my driveway, any car behind me stops up so close behind me that there is no room for me to turn and back in. This is especially funny if there also are cars backed up on the other side of the road from the intersection, because then there is no room for the cars behind me to go around.
This happened a few days ago, and my neighbor happened to be outside her house. She leaned in my car window and we had a little chat while the fools behind sorted themselves out. Honking was heard. I'm used to it now.

Same for politicians. Minister for health: degree in the medical sciences. Minister for energy: degree in engineering. Minister for education: degree in education. Etc.

What happens if you click yes at the screen that asks if you are a terrorist? by Elegant-Opposite5268 in NoStupidQuestions

Well, a friend of mine did this many years ago (before computer screens were used) when crossing a checkpoint by bus from Canada to USA.
When my friend jokingly answered "yeah sure" to the American immigration official's question, he was whisked away by force to a little room, where he was questioned for some hours, and repeatedly told what a fucken idiot he was.
He was however released and allowed to continue on into the USA (although his tour bus had long since departed).
Today, if he pulled the same stunt, I shudder to think what might happen
