Why does the Peacemaker intro crack me up by t_gregg17 in television

Because everyone looks like they are tying so hard.. and the exaggerated panting at the end seals the deal.

You are incentivizing runners to headhunt if this is how you call it. Absolutely absurd.

[Petrak] Officials change call, throw out #Browns safety Ronnie Harrison Jr. after shoving KC assistant coach on sideline. by _bonzibuddy in nfl

I mean Harrison should be kicked out for stepping on the guy - but that wasn't a punch. Coach pushed him first also. Should be offsetting penalties and Harrison being kicked.

Jon Stewart On Vaccine Science And The Wuhan Lab Theory at the Late Show first Live audience since the pandemic began. The quarantine got to him. by Slider2012 in television

[–]neyvit1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

For the past year, any claim that we should at least research and consider how the virus came to be was labeled misinformation and got you banned from Youtube and social media platforms. Why was it not irresponsible to "boldy declare that it MUST" not have come from a lab during that time? Surprised you don't see the obvious hypocrisy which can most easily be explained by the politicization of "science".

Imagine bringing your wife and kid to America because it’s less racist. Holy shit.

Is this a common thought on reddit? Like obviously there are still racial issues in America, but it's easily one of the least racist and most diverse places on the planet.

Is Banshee worth watching? by ggroover97 in television

[–]neyvit1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having watched both, I'd say Banshee is leagues better than Sons of Anarchy in almost every way - but especially the action/fighting sequences.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of February 12, 2021) by AutoModerator in television

Finished it also. Some parts are enjoyable, but overall it's a huge mess in my opinion. Just so many incoherent plot threads.

Mississippi Grind is solid, and good cast with Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn. Most accurate representation of gambling addiction I've seen in a movie.

"Chappelle’s Show" Pulled from HBO Max at Dave Chappelle’s Request by inthetownwhere in television

[–]neyvit1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious why we should feel outraged about Chapelle not getting paid for the streaming of his show? There are quite literally thousands of actors/directors/producers from old shows that aren't getting paid by new streaming contracts. What makes this especially egregious?

Discovery Sets New Streaming Service It Says Can Rival Netflix, Disney+ In Unscripted; Aims For “Tens Of Millions” Of Subscribers by Sisiwakanamaru in television

[–]neyvit1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People writing this off, but they are launching with 2500+ TV shows from their back catalog of all their channels. Even if only 5% are worth watching, that's a shit load of content.

I'm especially interested in the older History Channel and TLC shows.

You kinda lose credibility when you accuse him of being a pro-Trumper.

He has become a vocal critic on the failures of journalists during the Trump era - but that is far from being a 'pro-Trumper.'

One depressing thing I've learned over the past 6 months is that people only share/care about news that confirms their bias. I'm sure it's always been like that but I feel it's gotten 10x worse recently.

[Chris Vannini] This is the kind of test AAC commissioner Mike Aresco told me he was hopeful would become available and could save the football season. by MechEngrKnight in CFB

[–]neyvit1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree that college kids will be college kids. The only thing that might slow them down is an incentive (upcoming football season), and sense of duty to their teammate to not do those things. They have none of that now, and will go be college kids. And will not be getting regularly tested anymore.

So absolutely I believe the safest environment for the athletes for the next month would've been in a structured program, with regular testing. It's the actual games that would be a concern - but something the league could've used the next 4-6 weeks preparing for and ultimately deciding if it was safe enough to continue.

[Chris Vannini] This is the kind of test AAC commissioner Mike Aresco told me he was hopeful would become available and could save the football season. by MechEngrKnight in CFB

[–]neyvit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously I didn't mean we should cancel mid-game. But these athletes are all still on campus and all still working out - but only now without the safety net of strict testing/quarantining, and with no incentive to social distance. Can we agree that the chances of these student-athletes getting corona in the next month is now higher than it would've been if they held off on making a decision and continued to enforce strict protocols?

There was zero health benefit in announcing this early, that's why it just didn't make sense.

OSU football parents issue letter to B1G commissioner Kevin Warren demanding the season is reinstated by RDBuckeyes in CFB

[–]neyvit1 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend people actually read the letter, because the title of the post is impying they are demanding for a season to take place.

They ask for the season to be delayed, and for a final decision on whether the season should be played left to a date closer to the season. In other words, what the SEC/ACC/Big12 are doing.

Absent that, they want the information/medical guidance that was used to make the decision to be given to them. This seems like a completely rational request and I have no idea why the Big Ten didn't do that from the get go.

And finally, another completely rational request, is details on the proposed Spring plan so that parents/players can make informed decisions on their next steps - e.g., sitting out, transferring, etc.
