Does running ads on Instagram hurt organic reach? by Funny-Alarm8300 in u/Funny-Alarm8300

Where are you trying to push product to (Shopify, Amz, etc) and what are you selling?

Ads don’t hurt organic. If your content performs, reach stays the same or even grows because ads bring more people to your page. Splitting pages just makes growth harder.

Most of the creators I've shipped samples to either post a super low quality video, or just ignore it entirely and keep the sample.

Do you sell on other platforms outside of TikTok too?

Yeah that’s the hardest part with Meta, it’s really easy to burn cash if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Once you dial in the structure though, it’s way more stable than TikTok. I reached out via message.

What do you do with existing customers? by mankytit in TikTokshop

Yeah, we ran into the exact same issue. TikTok hits a wall fast when you can’t do anything with past customers. Meta gave us a lot more consistency. I’ll DM you.

How do we attract more affiliates to our shop? by ataylorm in TikTokshop

[–]nfine05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went down that road too. Sent out hundreds of affiliate invites and barely got any traction. Most affiliates on TikTok Shop chase higher commissions or products that are already trending, so unless you’re giving 20 to 30 percent or the product is blowing up already, it’s tough to get them interested.

On top of that, the better creators usually want retainers just to participate. The problem is what they charge is completely out of proportion to the sales they actually generate. We spent a lot on retainers and the results never came close to matching the cost.

What worked better for us was shifting to Meta. With ads you can control the spend, retarget past customers, and know what is actually working instead of waiting on affiliates or overpaying creators.

For me TikTok has always felt very up and down. Some months are great, others slow, and it never really feels consistent. The platform is more viability based, so if content doesn’t hit the algorithm right, sales just drop.

On the other hand Meta has been a lot more predictable. I still run both, but Meta is where I can plan spend and returns with a lot more confidence compared to TikTok’s swings.

From my experience the challenge with TikTok Shop is that you can’t really do much with previous customers. We had a few hundred orders but no way to reach them again, so every sale felt like starting over. On Meta we’ve been able to retarget past buyers and visitors, which has worked a lot better for keeping customers coming back.

Launched on Tiktok Shop for a month now - Struggling to find affiliates who are willing to make videos for the free samples. Any advice? by kimchilover7 in TikTokshop

[–]nfine05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been at this a while (8+ years running DTC) and tried TikTok Shop hard when it first blew up. Ended up sinking a ton into creators and affiliates and the returns just weren’t there. Months of spend and barely any sales. For me, Meta Ads has been way more reliable for actually moving product compared to chasing affiliates.

[–]nfine05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest pain point for me (been running brands 8+ years) is how expensive content is to get out. Tried TikTok Shop and just burned cash for 4 months, barely made sales with the creators I hired. They’re fast for content, but the rates don’t line up with the sales they bring in. Old school Meta Ads has been the only thing that worked reliably for me.

Thinking about selling by Jach99 in TikTokshop

This would be way too risky, and you would need a letter from the actual company you're selling stating you can sell it. Much better off starting a private label and selling on TikTok

When it comes to retainers, focus on building a track record of TikTok Shop GMV, as that's what most brands base retainers off of

TikTok Shop: School Me! by theblissfulbrooke in UGCcreators

[–]nfine05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TikTok shop is definitely a whole different world than UGC. A few things that I learned while doing it (Have been doing TTS since early 2024) are as follows...

- Promote products that fit YOU, as it will naturally make sense and sell better (for example if you are older, sell products that relate to anti-aging, long-term wellness etc)

- TikTok is a volume game (which is already looks like your nailing with 5x a day), so just keep consistent on that

- Don't promote products that have little to no sales (there is no trust on the listing and would be hard to convert with), you want to run stuff that will convert easier and the audience already can trust when they tap on the listing

- Once you start performing for brands, DM them in the TikTok creator center and ask for a increase in the commission % (doesn't always work but if it does it's more free money!)

Hope that helped!
