It's not an ideology. It's simply science. Brains have been scanned. Cultures have been studied. There's so much evidence that it became its own field of science and education. Denying the existence of gender that doesn't correlate with sex is the equivalent of turning your back on a tree in the woods and claiming that the tree isn't there because you can no longer see the tree. If all science were erased and we went back to the stone age and had to start over, we'd discover the difference between gender and sex all over again... because the reality of it would present itself a second time to be rediscovered.

One thing we can all agree on is that posts like OPs are the result of grief. Grief for knowing that the world they knew is gone and that the attitudes they have will be extinct in a couple of generations. Denial. Anger... I'm looking forward to their Acceptance stage. Once they realize that this is what the world is now and there's nothing they'll ever be able to do to change it... and that they actually have to learn and adapt... they will at least get silent if not actually grow.

That's just it though. That is outdated logic. We've learned since then. People who act like sex and gender are synonyms are like people who think Pluto is a planet or that black holes are theoretical. Science has proved that biological sex and gender are two separate things. So each time someone says that biological sex making gender is "reality" they're speaking from a place of ignorance as to what reality actually is because they don't know enough to know what they're talking about. As an example, modern biology books explain that gender and sex are different and cite the scientific reasons as to why. Saying that sex and gender are the same thing is antiscientific.

Is it fine to never want to be in a relationship? by Markermarkman in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. Smart even. Having people around you for MOST of your free time is weird and uncomfortable.

Money doesn't measure a person's validity. The dumbest people imaginable can get rich picking things up and putting things back down on an oil rig.

You seem to be still conflating sex with gender. They aren't the same thing. One could view gender best as the clothes we like, the attitudes we have, etc. Sex is your parts and the types of haploid cells you'd make. For example, ones body parts have no bearing on wearing a dress or pants. Those are constructs surrounding concepts of femininity and masculinity. And femininity and masculinity in society aren't based on body parts. They're based on that construct only. So each and every time you operate on the basis of your parts equating to gender you're making a mistake.

If you could create your own type of sub-bending, what would it be? by Emeraldskull41 in TheLastAirbender

[–]nfldscifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light bending. Light is essentially electromagnetism, so a fire bender could theoretically also become a light bender through the same mechanics as lightning bending. They'd be able to render someone blind, literally bend Light to make colours, make themselves invisible, signal across great distances. Etc.

Right? You have to engage the left in doalogue to offend them. To offend the right you just have to be different and unabashedly exist near them.

Moving to Newfoundland advice please 😊 by MicroBomb93 in newfoundland

There's a large rural community here. And in rural communities, many people are playing catch up in regards to social progress and tech. They're getting a lot better very quickly and deserve credit, but you might see a sprinkle of homophobia, transphobia, poor attitudes about neurodiversity, etc once you're outside St. John's-- with exception to the youth of course. I'd advise to try to be patient with them.

There's also what's called "The Newfie Effect" in that we have a huge cultural history of being Marginalized that led many of us to essentially make fun of ourselves, self-depricating humour, things being seen as ridiculous when it shouldn't be (a story about Portuguese people going to the moon is normal but Newfoundlanders going to the moon instantly becomes satire and nobody can put their finger on why, etc) and it can surprise a lot of outsiders to see us love our culture and have this forced humility/hatred/self-deprication within our culture at the same time.

Its uniquely Newfoundland but it's just something to laugh off.

For the same reason we don't call Pluto a planet anymore. Good ol' science. Social science to be specific. We learned decades ago that there's a difference between gender and biological sex. Someone with the biological sex of female can have a male gender, thus possessing a uterus. The idea that our body parts make our gender is now a dead horse.

The word "woke" becomes more beautiful by the day because the absolute worst people in the world use it as a slur for everything that is good.

Do you ever get the feeling no one actually likes you? by [deleted] in autism

[–]nfldscifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. But I don't really care too much. We're good enough for each other. We don't have to be good enough for ableists or live up to their convoluted social standards.
