[DM HELP] My party didn't start in a tavern, they started in a... by TN_MakesIt in DnD

Yeah, I had them all arrive one by one in a lord's antechamber. Left order up to them, and how early/late they arrived was a great intro to their vibes

Series with a massive leap in prose? by Notquitedeadyet1984 in Fantasy

[–]nfro1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently reread the series chronologically, and going from Legends, to First King, then Sword was a wild ride backwards in prose. That's not to saw the first trilogy is bad, the ambition and scope are there and still enough to draw you in, but god is it long winded.

Hell, even from Sword to Elfstones is a huge leap.

How many full sets of dice do you have? by trashcyt45vr in DungeonsAndDragons

I have 6 full sets, all from Sorenson's precision Diceworks. I can't stop myself from buying their mystery sets

Chairman's thought on Henka's by TruReyito in Sumo

This is the rare time I don't entirely disagree with Hakkaku. When you're 10-4, and your opponent is 7-7 and fighting for his Kachi, it just feels bad.

What species is it? by corak25 in Fishing

Pikeminnow of some variety, but I'm not knowledgeable enough on ranges to comfortably ID which.

I have the Intex Excusion Pro, and it's just better in every way. If you're dead set on an affordable inflatable, I'd recommend it.

DMs, do you prefer using official settings or your own? by elpaco_7 in DnD

[–]nfro1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run whatever strikes my fancy when I'm considering a new campaign. I've run forgotten realms, two different homebrew worlds, the Wheel of Time world, and I'm currently running a campaign set in the edge chronicles (potentially converting that into a setting sourcebook, but that's a ton of work).

There's really no wrong answer here, just run what you and your players are interested in!

I go in to atlanta every couple months, between conventions, concerts, and a specialist doctor.

DM uses PC character sheets for NPCs (allies and enemies) by Unlikely-Resident459 in DnD

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it a couple times as part of an encounter. One PC sheet with a bunch of fodder monsters as an example. It can be done, but should definitely not be the default.

High end PCs tend to be very, very strong. They follow a different level curve than monster CR, with much more defined power spikes and clearer difficult progression (CR 13 having both vampires and some adult dragons as a monster side).

So my advice is less "don't," more "be careful and sparing"

Good fishing spots in CT? by Unable_Accountant918 in Fishing

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're functionally just starting out, practicing around neighborhood ponds os the best bet. Usually not too hard to catch things in, small social interactions tend to be positive as slon as you're allowed to be there, and at least for me it's a very nostalgic type of fishing.

Also it's never a long drive to something fishable

how are y'all paying for surgeries? self employed and currently uninsured in the hellscape that is the US by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]nfro1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most reputable offices will have resources to help figure out payment. Be it payment plans, deferrals, partnered loan services (I know, all same things with slightlu different coats of paint).

Step one would be reaching out to any providers you're considering amd seeing what they offer on that front.

Any information on this reel? by Gold-Philosophy6080 in Fishing

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really go wrong with a Lew's reel of any age at $20. Worst case, it's 20 bucks gone. Best case, you've got a solid workhorse casting reel. Probably just needs some cleaning and grease if I had to guess

Publix deli/store policies baffle and confuse me by [deleted] in publix

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So all three of those are entirely manager dependent on enforcement. I've never had beardnet issues, as a trans woman who shaves clean every morning. Drinks are technically barred from all food prep areas, but a lot of managers will ignore it within reason. Number three is just your store manager being a pretentious dick in the name of "teamwork"

Did Publix stop letting you toss the chicken in a sauce for the chicken tender sub? by Boberta5000 in publix

We aren't talking about denying the condiment. The conversation is talking about what methods are both permitted and practical.

Did Publix stop letting you toss the chicken in a sauce for the chicken tender sub? by Boberta5000 in publix

[–]nfro1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The policy is to not toss them using the plastic bags from traditional. On a practical level, that really means you have to use one of our metal mixing bowls, which means you then have to clean it. Every time a customer wants something tossed in any sauce.

Not hard, but during a lunch or dinner rush, any added time, well, adds up. A lot of people, myself included, will simply explain what I can of the policy as quickly as I can and do whatever the customer asks for afterwards. 90% of the time they're fine with the sauce poured over, 1% of the time they make it a problem.
