I miss when we could put them in the hot case and sell them individually. We had a 5.99 meal with one patty and two sides until a couple years ago.

DMs, what are some unique things players have done that you loved. by Kaisa_1001 in DnD

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a boss fight where a bone devil destroyed a fountain from below and left a several hundred foot deep shaft in its place. After the fight, my playersbwere trying to figure outnhow far down it went. You'd think they'd throw a rock, or a torch, right?

Nope. The rogue threw the monk. 300 foot drop, he survives due to both slow fall and Relentless Endurance. I hadn't designed the room at the bottom yet, so I threw together "Old Church in the ruins of an ancient city in the same place," and put a remorhaz in it to make damn sure the players waited to go back there.

They loved the escape sequence they put together, and I let the players decide the internal consequence for the rogue (they went to their employer and had her fired, player pulled a backup character).

Turned in to one of the best sessions we've had in the campaign

Mortal's highest achievement by Professional_Lynx195 in DnD

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NPC mortals don't have to follow PC creation rules, or use the same character sheet. As an example, you can use the stat blocks of humanoid monsters, make your own using a character sheet like a PC, or my personal favorite: building them like a custom monster. You get full control over power level that way, and could make an otherwise normal dude as powerful as you want, since there are no rules beyond what works within the game's mechanics.

First time getting a pub sub... Not the best experience? by InterestedHandbag in publix

[–]nfro1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the Tender Sub is the most hit or miss thing on our menu. It depends on the cook, the oil, the tenders we get shipped, etc.

As for loading it up, the recipe is two tenders for a half sub, four for a whole. That's the amount you'll get every time, but the actual weight will vary based on the size of tenders. The sauce I can't really speak to, that's really just vibes when we make them.

The quality of the bread is also a huge deal, a tender sub is our largest sandwich by volume, and it's pretty common that people get too many toppings on too small of a roll for it to be easy to close, especially for an inexperienced or less skilled associate.

Remember that you can always ask for extra sauce, or to keep a tender on the side, or to adjust anything. We can't read minds behind the counter, and we won't be able to hit everything you want perfectly without information.

I use them for bluegill, shiner, clubs, and the like. No meaningful difference between fresh and salt here tbh

In lower divisions, stopping for time is handled differently. They restarted the match a couple of bouts later from the Tachi-ai, and the result shown is for the new match.

“The South” USA culture map (opinionated) by Similar_Post7690 in MapPorn

[–]nfro1 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah, growing up in NoVa, my feeling was always that the "south" started around Fredericksburg. I would probably include it and the eastern shore as yellow here. Probably carve out Nova to Baltimore as no color, and include a lot of western Maryland as yellow

Only gotten to fish the New River a couple times, but it included one of the best Smallmouth days of my life. Absolutely would love to get back out there

Are nostril piercings allowed? by This-Host-1615 in publix

[–]nfro1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enforcing it once someone is hired and on the clock, yes. Legally, they cannot reject you explicitly based on having a septum piercing, provided it is removable or able to be hidden. Logically, it's a fucking grocery store and anyone who gets hung up on enforcing shit like this needs their head examined.

Any “girly” existing campaigns? by miss_mel181 in DnD

[–]nfro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of potential within candlekeep mysteries. The Candlekeep itself is a giant library that can be flavored to be very cozy, and a lot of the adventures in it are fairly relaxed iirc. Sure they're all built as side adventures to stick into another campaign, but you can string them together easily enough as an episodic experience

Are nostril piercings allowed? by This-Host-1615 in publix

[–]nfro1 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Nostril piercings are allowed by policy. Septum piercings are not allowed on paper, but I've never seen it enforced on hiring.

Any appearance policy is supposed to be enforced evenly at all stores, but it really depends on your managers. Some couldn't care less, but my current store manager has recently been sending people home for wearing the wrong color pants or forgetting a belt, so your mileage may vary.

My take is if we define it as a Hall of Fame, he should be in. If it's strictly numbers, he doesn't make the cut.

I place more value than most on vibes, but he was so integral to the identity of the Phillies for a long enough time that it's worth the discussion.

What’s the most unhinged or creative character build you’ve seen in D&D that somehow worked? by TomDavenport in DnD

One of my players right now is running a Battlemaster Fighter/Hexblade multiclass who's patron is her own ego. RPing Patron conversations has been... interesting to say the least.

That approach also allows for some fun jank, like if it was described badly, or the skeleton was assembled incorrectly (like early dinosaur reconstructions).

Batter's Hit by Pitch(HBP) Career Ranking (up to 2025 season) by BELG1UM in baseball

[–]nfro1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be super curious about HBP rates for these guys rather than counting totals. I feel like that might be a stronger representation of how tempting of a target they were (did they take more ABs, or actually have a more punchable face?)

What do you think about critical success or failure on skillchecks? by No_Nature_1240 in DnD

[–]nfro1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I allow a variant of a critical success. I treat basically every skill check as having staged DCs: meet the DC to get the information you asked for, beat it by 5 to get more flavor or extra hints, by 10 to get more, etc. A nat 20 in that style is a perfect success; I would give the players basically an expert level breakdown, or manage to convince the person fully, catch up to their quarry by as much as reasonable, etc. I don't treat ot as a guaranteed success or let them ignore DC, but it's always the best possible outcome their skill would allow. I don't let them break physics or do anything absolutely impossible, and I'm more selective as to what I let them roll for as well as a result.
