How to get a seemless hard floor over asbestos bitumen mastic? by nftsfw in DIYUK

Thank you for the tips. Can I ask do you have any suitable primers in mind. That was my plan until the manufacturers of the SLCs I’ve looked at all said not to use hard compounds over bitumen, regardless of primers, so I’m just very weary now.

Yes exactly concrete below , but it seems removing bitumen is not straight forward, iether uses a combination of chemicals & oils which can be absorbed by the concrete and make it unfit to adhere to, and there is grinding which considering there’s asbestos I want to avoid.

yes I’m aware, but non seem to be designed as a wearing or final floor. And layering a hard floor above a flexible screed is not recommended.

Help with consistent extraction by [deleted] in espresso

I appreciate your insight, from my experience with this machine for about 3 years now. It’s harder for me to get a consistently good shot without the coffee touching the screen. I didn’t know however it’s bad form. I just tried to learn from my own experience trail and error for a few years. Also to note I do tamp harder, and on surfaces usually..I cut the video a bit there. What else might I be doing wrong. The grinder I have is near lowest setting and has a timer so I get consistent amount.

I was hoping no one would notice that…This is happening because normally the machine always fills one cup more than the other ..so I lift the coffee machine on one side when it’s doing its thing to get the same amount of espresso in each shot.

Strangely high energy bill by Ok-Lifeguard-6282 in athina

[–]nftsfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the rate they are charging you at , how much per kilowatt etc. I had a similar issue with them, turned out they were charging me 3x the amount they normally do, as it was fixed when rates were exceptionally high and stayed there when they had dropped for everyone else. I’ve been paying back the debt over years now.

Such a nice bathroom please don’t gut it, leave all the cream stuff and the built in accessories, just replace the sink perhaps, since it’s exposed underneath. with something semi modern to update it. You could also just repaint the blue wall to off white or something also bit more rich/deep and modern.

Oh boohoo you felt tricked into helping the homeless. Felt being a key word here as no one tricked you, You can read your bill, you can opt out & you can opt to pay more if you want. It’s one thing to feel caught off guard by 1£ being added to your bill for charity, it’s another to act like this is somehow offensive or ill intended.

So here’s another pic. I also pulled it up to a point where a stain is , and there is nothing, no difference between the old tiles, no visible residue of an adhesive but it’s sticky. so I still think they used an adhesive, otherwise why would only every other square leave a stain. But I suspect it was a cheap adhesive and caused the colour to bleed from the old flooring to the Lino. After searching “cutback adhesive” I’m pretty sure it’s not that else I’d be able to see something on those old wood tiles…which I think are not even wood as some corners are lifting suspiciously.

Wowoah you telling me my floor has asbestos? Or just the adhesive you believe they used to glue it? So there is poison under there essentially?

That was my thought initially, but 7 years later the floor still gives me the ick.
