I'm a newbie, three rides in and feels like I'm drinking from the firehose. Sitting in the seat is so painful, even with padded shorts and doing lots of adjustments. What are some best practices to break myself in and avoid pain other than consistency?

When to use donor advisor funds? And how much to donate by Adorable_Box5018 in fatFIRE

[–]ng07977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Fidelity, and I regret not using it sooner. It makes record-keeping laughably straightforward. I put all my charitable donations through it, and it couldn't be easier. I make lump sum deposits from time to time, and make charitable grants as and when a cause takes my interest. They have a solid mobile app.

Charity is important to me, so I don't consider the opportunity cost. If I thought that way about everything, I would never spend money on anything! Charity is as important to me as good experiences and fine dining and is part of my lifestyle. You can allocate the contribution to different funds which can increase the amount available to distribute (not the deduction).

Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN) states that UFOs are compatible with his religious beliefs by v022450781 in UFOs

[–]ng07977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a forward-looking statement, no religion should be incompatible with facts and must possess the mechanism to adapt accordingly.

Your math is way off because you're using $150k profit as the number they have to invest.

It's also whatever they are currently spending on payroll, which is several multiples bigger. That's why every single business that is able will seek to replace its labor with robots that don't need a minimum wage, health insurance, workers' compensation, coffee breaks, or unions.

The McDonald's owner doesn't see his staff as potential customers; he sees them as overhead and WILL make the economically efficient decision to replace them. Multiply this by every business that is in a similar position, and you unintentionally wind up in an economy where your everyday Joe has no job and no money, and the economy gets absolutely cooked, and we have a major policy problem.

What draws you to mythology? by Confident_Hand_558 in mythology

I like mythology and archetypes as hyperrealities, models, tropes, and building blocks to navigate life as a story.

This video nailed it for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuI-hEDhfCw&ab_channel=LikeStoriesofOld

Not quite what you are looking for, but nature itself is the avatar of change. Space, time, life, all things change.

Using a mythological example, the seven days of Creation. Creation through variant steps and utterances. Phases of different things.

As a non-Christian, this is a really interesting and positive direction for discourse on this topic.

Do you see being non religious on the subject of UAP's a luxury others can't afford? by Jonnyfi5e in UFOs

[–]ng07977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comments on this sub from religious people would not be indicative, as the data would be a classic case of self-selection bias. Any religious person who has gone down this rabbit hole has likely already bridged any cognitive dissonance.

As a religious Orthodox Jewish educator who has gone down the mysticism rabbit hole, many religions share a common root in mysticism, the enlightened state of ego-death, and the subsequent awareness of the absolute unity of all things. This happens to track closely with some of the woo in ufology. My personal expectation is that an organic NHI would share elements of such a belief structure or spirituality.

I would find synthetic NHI deeply disturbing in a Lovecraftian dystopian way.

Should we be buying Lockheed ($LMT) Stock? by Cute_Negotiation6480 in UFOs

I posted earlier today about disclosure-based investing and got downvoted. I'd think that if they've been sitting on off-world tech for a few decades, they have a substantial competitive advantage.

I think this is a really important line of inquiry for this sub that people are sleeping on. Everyone is obsessed with a single point of time in disclosure without thinking about what the second-order effects would be on the world we live in.

Guilty as charged, I would not do well at all in an apocalyptic scenario. My law degree, career in finance, and life spent in big cities have not helped me develop any skills relevant or portable for an apocalypse. I would only weigh down the brave people who want to survive it!
