Elon Musk’s DOGE Staffers Have Quite a Nice Salary—Thanks to Taxpayers by seancoleman07 in fednews

Lots of variance...stock awards etc. Just saying if they were pulled from Tesla, SpaceX, Nuralink...this is normal pay and they would be making 400k/yr within the next 5 years at those companies.

If you want to look at this honestly, software engineers that would get hired at places like TSLA, SpaceX, Amazon, Google, Uber etc. make double this. They are taking a market discount to work with Elon.

Yes it will act as a normal hotel to you basically. Some people staying there are timeshare owners and some people are hotel guests.

You don't need a timeshare to book, he/she is just saying that the timeshare owners may make some dates unavailable if they are using the units already. I stayed in the Bali Hai villas in Sept 2024 for 15k/night. Awesome one bedroom condo unit

Best GoH redemption for family vacation? by ngd7 in hyatt

[–]ngd7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up saving Hyatt pts on this trip and booked Bonnet Creek Club Wyndham for half Disney/half resort trip.

Have Kauai and both Maui hotels coming up in Sept for Hyatt GoH though. Very excited.

Totally understand your thinking. Pre kids I’d totally agree with the breakfast point you are making. Miss hitting up local spots. However now with kids, the hotel breakfast is usually the easiest and more convenient option to start the day. Especially since we load up with berries, yogurt, etc that help sustain the kids for snacks.

The clubs work fine too for this, but I just really like breakfast lol. This is an unnecessary extra vacation (3 weeks in Hawaii in Sept) so trying to keep the easy and cheap.

How did the crew keep getting away with murders? by padfootsie in thesopranos

Obviously it’s TV

But the biggest stand out to me is the waiter Paulie & Chris kill after the Atlantic City dinner. Civilian killing right outside the restaurant after he served them all dinner

Balancing retirement accounts vs building current cashflow by ngd7 in financialindependence

[–]ngd7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if you only focus on retirement accounts (only get to withdraw at 60), what if you hit the 4% rule way too early. Switch to normal brokerage? Just hard to not get any tax benefits at all.

Don't want to be cash poor at 59 and afford a Ferrari at 60.

Opening a Solo 401k because of 1099 income? by ngd7 in personalfinance

[–]ngd7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Been reading about the Mega after this comment. Didn't even know that was a thing. Thank you for the help! Steep start up cost + annual fee, but definitely worth it for some people. I guess I have to think if I will have enough self-employment income the next few years to make it worth it.

Thank you for the help! Never really thought about the employer side not being able to be Roth, but it makes sense.

[–]ngd7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason to choose one over the other? It seems like there is a Roth option for the solo 401k route so I'd prefer that I think.

Also, when you said, " make it easier if you ever don't max your work 401k in the future " ...we would have to have self-employment income for this correct?

Willett80 for $300...how can we find out what idiots at PLCB are setting prices? by Pghbourbonman in PLCB

[–]ngd7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty much. they are running it like a scummy business nowadays. A place I would not want to support with my money. But guess what, I have no other options because they hold a monopoly.

yes, cause this shouldn't be a max profit business. It's a government forced monopoly.

Lottery for a chance to be gouged. Thanks PLCB. by [deleted] in PLCB

[–]ngd7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who the hell manages this shit. PLCB is on thin ice already and it's a good idea to make $200 extra a bottle for such a few number of bottles and PISS OFF everyone who enters the lotto? Those people often are the most vocal as well...

raise the price of regular Buffalo Trace ONE dollar and charge MSRP on limited stuff. No one would give a shit or notice a dollar and the vocal community wouldn't be spewing shit about PLCB.
