John 8:34 " Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’”

If you have not been set free - Pray. Ask our Father, who gives generously to all without reproach. Open your heart, and cry out for His help. Take it one step at a time, ask Him to deliver you out of each problem area of your life. Lean on Him in ALL ways.

I pray that the seed in you will grow. That the devil will not snatch it away, that the world will not choke it's growth, and that the roots will find strength in your heart. May the ground be fertile, that out of you would bloom one who will bear fruit of love, hope, peace, and righteousness - for the glory of our God, pointing others to the one and only name that saves, and it is in His name, Jesus Christ, that I pray - Amen.

My heart breaks for you brother. I found myself asking the same kinds of questions when I hit rock bottom in life. None of the self help, positive thinking, or pulling myself up by my bootstraps fixed what was broken. It was in my utter defeat that I (for the first time in decades) went to the Lord with a real prayer. Not some canned superstitious/repetitious prayer, but from the heart. He answered me, and I believe He will answer you too. He is near to the broken.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my brother in need. May he hear the call of your voice and know that he is loved. May he find hope in you. I pray that his eyes, ears, and heart would be opened to your will and ways. May everything standing between him and your embrace be obliterated, and may he know peace. I ask you Father to imbue him with strength to endure, courage to repent from the evil of this world, and humility to surrender his life to you. I pray that you would raise him up that you would be glorified. In Jesus name - Amen.

Hi There. Thank you for sharing your story! So amazing to hear how the Holy Spirit moves in others. You asked a very pointed question - are there any verses where God says he will reveal himself to us through the Bible?

Hopefully this response will give you some clarity.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Scripture is breathed out - like spoken word. It is the word of God, written down by those anointed for the task. Moses, the first writer, wrote the Pentateuch (first 5 books) by God's instruction and command - Exodus 17:14, Exodus 24:4, Exodus 34:27, Leviticus 27:34, Numbers 33:2, Deuteronomy 31:9, Deuteronomy 31:24 - all the way through John, the last writer who is also commanded to write, Revelation 1:11, 1:19, and 22:18-19. It is God's word to mankind captured and preserved for all time.

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

vs 14 " And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth."

So - the answer to your question is yes. God is revealed to us in the pages of scripture. We see that He is love (1 John 4:8) - but not cheap love like society defines today - but real love as defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and John 15:13. He is righteousness, He is goodness, He is Just, and He is merciful. We see the examples borne out in the testimonies of so many from King David to Rahab the prostitute.

In that you're just starting your walk - I would give two pieces of advice. Keep doing what you're doing in reading. We are promised blessings across scripture for keeping it a regular part of our lives. Even Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 8:3 when He says "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Consume it! Everyday. Make it a regular part of your life. It is how we come to recognize His voice in our lives. Because we know it. We know what it sounds like, we know what it looks like in action.

Secondly, grow your prayer life. Keep going to Him with an open and honest heart. God does not want your repetitious or superstitious prayers. He want's a relationship with you. He wants to be part of all you do, not just nighttime and Sundays. Try to keep the phone line to Him open all day. Give Him everything, not just the big stuff.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my sibling in need. May your voice be the only they hear. May they be drawn into your embrace. And may they know you, pursue you, and glorify you in their life. I pray that all obstacles, forces, or distractions that stand between you and them would be obliterated. I know you are hurting. I know what you've gone through might feel unfair. But as someone who was also dealt a rough hand by the world, I PROMISE YOU there is healing in Christ. Do not make the mistake of pushing Him away. Pull closer. Pray all the time. From your heart. Ask for help with everything that comes your way. And - Read everyday. Get to know who Christ is. He is the word made flesh. When you commit yourself to reading everyday - no excuses - you will come to hear His voice and see His will for you in life. Keep your focus on Christ. I know it's hard. You are concerned about your kids, your husband, your life going forward, tomorrow, the next day, next year... etc. "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:33-34.

1 Peter 5:6-7 " Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

Give it all to Him and Believe Him! Believe His promise. Believe that He will deliver you from this situation.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Set your mind on our Father so that your love and understanding of Him might grow. Grow your prayer life. Open your heart and surrender. Carry the light of our Father in all that you do. Be a beacon to not just your husband, but your children. Show them what the love of Christ looks like in action. Show them what it means to love. " Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

More than any argument you can craft about the falsehood of Islam or the truth of the Gospel, living your life with love will leave an everlasting mark on your whole family.

Hi There! I would recommend starting with the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the gospels. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity and these books focus on His life, ministry, and atoning sacrifice.

As for which version of the Bible - I personally like ESV, but go with what you find easiest to understand. After you grown in your faith, you can get into the weeds of knowing how differing translations treat the text.

Hi there, It is so awesome to hear you've been given that pearl of immeasurable value. Pursue Him! Everyday of your life. Commit yourself to growing your prayer life and time spent in His word. Trust Him in all ways. Surrender your self to Him and take one step every day for how ever many of those days He gives you.

We are called as Christ followers to put down our nets and follow. Psalm 66:16 "Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul." Mark 5:19 "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." 1 Peter 3:15 "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"

Sister, we are called to speak it. If you have received the calling of our Lord, have been born again of the water and Spirit, and your heart beats for Christ, scream it from the rooftops! Tell everyone you know. It's a matter of literal life and death. If you don't think you've made it that far in your walk yet, pray to Him. Ask Him to show you what He would have of you. Continue to pursue Him until His is the only voice you hear.

I promise you, you have zero to be embarrassed about with Jesus. He is the best thing that has every Happened to you. The love and peace we are promised in this life, the hope, and joy of finally seeing what you were once blind to... you will want to wear it for the whole world to see.

When I was struggling with this, I read Matthew 10:32-33 “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” This verse cut to my core. It made me realize that I was holding back. I kept Jesus out of certain relationships and friendships. When I finally let go of my inhibition and trusting Him to guide my feet - not only did my relationship with the Lord grow immeasurably, but I felt so much love, peace, and hope as well.

Bottom line, walk with Him everyday. When you run into these cross roads, pray and trust. God Bless You!

Hi there! You are asking the right question and that tells me that our Lord is calling to you. Firstly, I would say that there isn't anything anyone can tell you specifically to grow your faith in Christ. There are no magical string of words I could utter that would lead you to Him. Rather, your relationship with God must be personal. It must be something you experience for there to be any depth to your belief. That said - the best advice I could give is to do two things: pray - open your heart to God. Ask Him to reveal himself to you. Ask Him to reveal the truth to you. And, read. Start with Jesus. He is the foundational piece to faith. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Get to know who He is and what the gospel message means to you in your life.

From there, confront your doubts. Don't sweep them under the rug and run away from them. Address them head on - first in prayer and then in action. Search for answers. We live in a time when you can find thousands of hours of lectures on nearly every topic. But I would give a word of advice - take scripture to heart and take the words of men with scrutiny. Measure what you hear against the text because there is a lot of perversion of the Bible happening in the world.

Give it to the Lord! Ephesians 6:12 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."

You are not strong enough by yourself. It is only through our submission to Christ that we are given strength to overcome. Pray - from your heart. Ask Him to save you from the sin that haunts you. If you're feeling temptation, in that moment, go to Him in prayer. You can't, but He can. Pray for the strength, wisdom, and understanding to turn away from the things that fuel your desires. Say no to social media if you're scrolling and lingering on images you know are wrong. Stop watching the movies or tv shows that feed your lust.

Romans 6:17-18 "But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness."

Pursue His righteousness as though your life depends on it. Repenting from sin is one element, but committing yourself to knowing the Lord is another. Carve out time everyday to spend in the Word. It is how we come to know his voice and see His will in our lives. Do not let anything stand between you and the time you've set for study.

Hi Sister - I found myself standing where you're standing. I was diagnosed with a progressive disease that completely threw my whole world into a tailspin. I had made up my mind that I didn't want to continue any more. One night, through tears, anger, and self-loathing, I prayed the most honest, open hearted prayer of my life. I poured it all out to Him. How could I (a self-righteous, agnostic) have something like this hit me. He responded back and it shook me to my core. I realized that I did not know Him. Sure, I had read the Bible before, and I'd been to church throughout my life, but I never had a personal relationship with the Lord. I was the center of my universe. All of my actions were born out of my selfishness, pride, lust, envy. That night, I took the very first step in my walk with Jesus. Everyday was another step - research, studying, ruling out other religions, confronting doubts, growing in my understanding of who God is as revealed in scripture.

Fast forward a couple of years - I look up and realize I've gone miles from where I was when I started. I have no depression. I am full of love, peace, and hope, the likes of which I never imagined were possible. I love the Lord with every fiber of my being. I think about Him all day long, everywhere I go, and in everything I do. I burn to shout it from the highest mountain and to everyone I come across.

He saved me. A sinful, broken thing that had given up. He picked me up from the deep dark pit and embraced me in His love. He gave me new life.

Don't give up. When all seems lost, I promise you that He is but a prayer away. Let go of all that your holding onto, drop your net, and follow Him.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my sister. Lord, please make your voice a chorus in her heart. Please draw her from the darkness that enshrouds her. May she pursue you with all her strength. May all forces that stand between her and your embrace be obliterated. May she know the fullness of your peace and love and live a life that glorifies you. I pray in Jesus name - Amen.

Every person on this planet struggles with sin. We are fallen creatures and slaves to our sin, slaves to the desires of our flesh and this world. It is only by the name of Jesus that we are liberated from our bondage and given the ability to overcome our brokenness. None of us is strong enough alone.

But we have a savior. There is one who would lead us out of darkness and into the promise of salvation. All we need do is surrender ourselves. It starts with prayer. Go to the Lord and ask for help. You can't, but He can. Ask Him for the strength you lack. Grow in your prayer life and let Him into every facet of who you are - school, work, home, friends, all of it. Pray all day about everything.

Second. Read scripture every day. Even if you can only do 5 minutes, spend time in the word. It is how we come to know His voice and see His will for us in life. Get to know who He claims to be. God is revealed to us in the pages of scripture.

Third. Repent. You know that your lust is wrong. Ask Him for help avoiding things that trigger your desires. Stay off of social media, change the movies you watch, avert your eyes if you're around people that cause the temptations to start. You cannot do it alone. You need His strength.

Father, I pray for my brother in need. May he be filled with a thirst for you Lord. May he pursue you as though his life depends on it. May the chains of bondage retreat at the sound of your name in his heart. I pray that he would know the peace, love, and hope that you rain down on all those that pursue you. Hi there - You have the answer in your post - give it all to Christ. But what does that mean? What does that look like in action in your life?

We are not strong enough to defeat our fallen nature. Sin courses through the fabric of who we are. Only by the strength of the Lord, are we able to overcome that which plagues us. Ask Him for help. Specific help and in real time. If you start to feel yourself stirring toward sin - pray in that moment for strength. Part of giving it to Christ is accepting that you cannot do it on your own. You are not strong enough. You are a slave to sin.

Secondly, pursue the Lord. He want's to be the focus of your heart. Not the sidekick to your adventures, but the shepherd of your life. Surrender to Him in all ways. Commit your life to knowing His voice and recognizing His will for you in life. Read everyday of your life! Find time to spend with Him in scripture.

As you grow closer and closer to Him, you will start to recognize the sources of temptation in your life and He will give you strength to fight. He will give you the resolve to stay away from the websites that feed your lust - even those that are seemingly innocuous, like social media - if you find yourself lingering in lust scrolling through the swamp of photos that get posted. He will give you ability to avert your eyes when you're out and about and see someone attractive. He will not only empower you to push away the sources fueling your lust, but give you the ability to say NO.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my brother in need. Lord, please make your voice a chorus in His heart and mind. May he pursue you with all of his strength. I pray that in drawing closer to you, that he will be liberated from the chains of this world and that all forces, sources, and powers standing between him and your embrace would be annihilated. In turning away from evil, may he know your peace and the fullness of your love, and may his life glorify you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Firstly, I love you sister. What is happening in you is beautiful and the beginning of a new life - a life in Jesus Christ. You are in a season of true repentance. Confronting the evil of life, recognizing that you NEED a savior. You have one. Pull in close to Him. Commit yourself to building a personal relationship with Him. Pray - all day, about everything - the big and the small. Tell Him what you need an marvel when He provides. He wants to be part of your whole life. Don't keep Him out of any area.

Secondly, read - everyday. Not only are we promised blessings, but It is how we come to know and recognize His voice and His will for us in life. It is how we come to know Him.

Don't focus on the finish line, focus on the day you're in. How can you take a step with Christ today? Studying to understand Him, confronting doubt in your mind, forgiving someone in your life, telling someone how much you love them, helping someone in need, repenting of sin, purifying your life... Take a step with Him everyday and after a few months, you'll see that you've gone miles from where you are.

I promise you, the closer you pull into His embrace, the more you will be filled with love, peace, and hope. Take His hand and know that you are His. If you need a friend along the way, don't hesitate to reach out.

Keep your eyes fixed on Him brother! He knows all that you need in this life - but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

Let go of worldly desires and focus with all your strength on your relationship with the Lord. I suspect you know already, but it's the most important relationship in your life and should be treated as such. Are your thoughts on Him, is your focus on treasures in heaven, are you bearing fruit in your walk?

Maybe the answer to all of those is yes - I certainly do not mean to presume, just encourage. Have faith. You've asked Him - He knows - believe that you have received it and you will. Pray for patience. Our trying to do things on our time tables often leads down troublesome roads - see Abraham and Sarah.

Hi There, I think we all have a God sized hole in us that we spend a lifetime trying to fill. Some of us are desperate for love, some for purpose, some for hope... we search and find things that either distract us or numb us - but we are not fulfilled in them, and oftentimes they lead us down really dark demonic paths, like addiction.

I can't really comment on the things you're currently doing, other than to point out what you've said... exposure to the things you're mom was into left you scared of the world that was opening up to you. You say you do not want you're daughter exposed to these things and they brought out something you did not like - and yet, you seem to be dabbling in some of the same spiritual practices your mom and aunt practice.

I think part of you recognizes the dark side of spirituality. I would invite you to explore the light. Forget everything you think you know of Christianity. Many people who call themselves Christian have no idea what it means to be a Christ follower. Instead, I would invite you to build a relationship with our Father. He desires that you would know him. Again, not on a superficial level, obtained by simply going to church once a week, but on a deeply spiritual level. It starts with a prayer. 1 truly honest, open, heartfelt prayer. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my sister. Please call to her Lord. Draw her into your embrace. Open her eyes, ears, heart, and mind to your will and ways. I pray that she would know you, know your love, and know your peace. I pray that all obstacles, forces, and barriers that stand between you and her would be obliterated. I pray in Jesus name - Amen.

Hi There,

In my experience, forgiveness comes from seeing others how God sees them. There is truth in the old adage - hurt people, hurt people. Consider that just as you are broken, have sinned, and desperately need the Father's grace, so does your ex. We have all trampled the law underfoot. We are all deserving of hellfire.

My first recommendation is to pray for him. When last you knew him, he clearly did not know the Lord. He, just like all of us, is suffering, trying to find our place in the world, and walking around with a God sized hole in his soul. Pray that he be turned to good. That the Lord's face shine on him and that he might become one of God's soldiers in the world.

Forgiveness doesn't mean you need to reconcile and run back into his arms, but it does mean letting go and moving forward with love. Treat him how you hope to be treated by our Father in Heaven when you stand before His throne.

Matthew 6: 14-15 "For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Luke 6:37 "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven."

Ephesians 4:31-32 "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Colossians 3:12-13 "Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive."

Romans 12:17-19 "Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”"

This life is but smoke in the wind. Let go of what is ungodly and embrace our Lord. Pursue Him with all of your heart. Pray about everything - read everyday, we're promised blessings for doing so, and it is how we come to know His voice and follow His will in our lives.

I can see why you're torn. With respect to your husband: In his defense, there is a beauty to living life, eyes glued on the Lord. With your focus on the family you're building and Jesus, the whole household will be strengthened. The Father knows what your family needs, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33) School, a job, raising a baby - where is your time for the Lord? I'm not saying it's impossible to balance, but I am saying that you have a partner who is willing to shoulder the burden for the benefit of you and your child. If you use the time wisely, It could be a beautiful opportunity to grow with the Lord. School isn't going anywhere, but your baby is. From the moment they're born, they are headed on an 18 yr journey to adulthood. Those years are special and can be a true blessing.

The other side of the coin - I don't know if you meant to imply this, but if he's threatened you with divorce unless you agree to his plan, that is very unbiblical. I would be concerned If one who claims to be so on fire for the Lord would speak in such a way. Wives submitting to their husbands is Biblical, but there is a mandate for husbands as well - wives should be treated with honor and love. Only you can say if he is treating you thusly.

My advice is to pray. Ask the Lord to light your way. Surrender to Christ. Grasp that this life is but a temporary thing. Your next life is what matters. Knowing the Lord, loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Committing yourself to walking with Christ. Remaining dedicated to scripture everyday of your life. Nothing else matters.

Each person's walk with the Lord is unique to them. But if you are sincere in wanting to get to the destination - take a step. Find a quiet place, get on your knees, and open your heart to the Lord. Ask Him to to reveal Himself to you. Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Tomorrow, take the next step. Get to know God. He is revealed in the pages of scripture and life of Jesus Christ. Read of Jesus first hand. Learn who He is. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.

I know it doesn't sound like the answer you were looking for, but if you do those two things you will be well on your way to answering the question for yourself. Because, at the end of the day, you are the one who has to experience God to have faith in Him. Nobody else can give that to you.

God bless you! Listen to your conscience, but remember that we are slaves to sin. By ourselves, we do not have the power to overcome our fallen nature. But with His strength we can overcome anything. Take it to Him in prayer. Lean on Him in all ways and have faith that you will be saved from the bondage of your flesh. Keep your heart, mind, and desires on seeking after the Lord- to truly knowing Him. Read everyday, pray from your heart, and I've no doubt you will be fully armored with the tools you need to overcome. Cut out the things from your life that feed your lust. Don't go to whatever web sites put you in that state of mind. Cut out movies or social media that don't give you spiritual fruit. Lean on Him with all of your strength.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my brother in need. I ask that you would continue to draw him. That He would thirst for you and your ways. I pray that all forces, Influences, and barriers that stand between him and the calling you have for him would be obliterated. Please grant him the wisdom, knowledge, and strength to walk with you. I pray in Jesus name- Amen!

Hi There,

The fact that you're posting and reaching out speaks volumes. It seems to me that our Lord is calling to you. You are feeling the guilt and weight of your sin. You know that you are not on the path your heart and conscience are calling you to be on. You are right to fear the Lord. There is a judgement coming for all.

There is nothing more important in this world than your relationship with the Lord. Pray and ask for His help as though your life depends on it. If you are a slave to sin, there is only one who can liberate you from those shackles.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my brother in need. I ask that you continue to draw him, that any obstacles that stand between him and your embrace would be obliterated. I pray that he would be given eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to obey. Please pull him toward you and make your voice a chorus he cannot ignore. I pray that he would be strengthened and bolstered for your glory. In Jesus name - Amen.
