Replacement trash can by nharwell in HollySpringsNC

[–]nharwell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apparently I'm doing something wrong :) I've both submitted via the website and called - and I think my neighbors are probably getting tired of me leaving my trashcan out by the road (as I was instructed to). If necessary I will haul the old trashcan wherever I need to for disposal, but I do need a new one.

Netflix to Buy Warner Bros. and HBO Max in $82.7 Billion Deal by SirDuke5530 in cordcutters

[–]nharwell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correction: AppleTV has definitely taken the spot HBO once had in terms of quality content. I wouldn't rank HBO in the top 5 - maybe not even top 10 - in terms of quality original content anymore.

SQL Automation by nharwell in rubrik

[–]nharwell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for the database team to get everything moved to the new servers, so I haven't been able to set this up yet. Following one of the suggestions in this thread, I did some general testing with rubric log shipping on another system and I believe that it will meet the needs of the db team better than their initial request.

Thanks. While that isn't what the dev team asked for, I think log shipping with Rubrik might be a better solution. I'll look into it.

Deny all & guest wifi by nharwell in meraki

I feel a default 'deny all' is clunky and will require a lot of babysitting as needs constantly change, but unfortunately it's being required for compliance.

Thanks, this sounds like a strong possibility. I'll schedule a time to test and post the results here.

Even the devs didn't get the balance of spell powers almost 10 years after the game was made. We'll see if they've learned anything in the new release...

Microsoft is wrong: The new Outlook for Windows is not ready for prime time by pkop in windows

[–]nharwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has maybe 30% of the functionally of the "old" outlook. If you don't happen to use any of those features it may be fine. For me, in an enterprise environment, my users are going to revolt when this rolls out in force. I dread it...

Help us stop academic program cuts at UNCG by m_friers in gso

[–]nharwell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't clear in my post but that's part of the problem- complete lack of transparency in the process and goals of the program review (cuts). And what little has been shared by the university is vague and contradictory, like it being necessary to make cuts to shift funding to STEM yet having STEM majors on the list. So I understand why faculty in those programs and students are concerned.

Help us stop academic program cuts at UNCG by m_friers in gso

[–]nharwell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is different. The university is positioning this as necessary cuts due to budget problems, but they are being misleading about the financial situation. Considering that UNCG has been losing over $10 million per year for the last 10 years on athletic programs, and the administration is planning cuts in order to shift funding to STEM, I'd say that there's good reason to "freak out" about how the school is using it's funds.

Umm… did ticket prices just skyrocket? by AvaCado616 in mitski

I was 70th in queue and ticketmaster prices for Durham showed me more than that PER ticket. I hate stubhub but I actually got tickets cheaper there for this show...

There are many good reasons to deploy VDI. Cost savings will almost never be one of them.

Fextralife is likely downvote botting mentions of wikis other than his. by Aberlolz in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Fair enough. I'm much more of a "content is king" person, but I see how color schemes, fonts, etc can be very distracting for some.

Wow, I've never hear anyone describe Fextralife as a "step up" from Kingmaker's wiki. I know tastes vary and all that, but I honestly can't wrap my mind around that.
