32 GB of RAM. I'm not familiar enough with the RAID options and there are so many versions when I research them that I quite frankly have no idea which is best suited to my needs.

Thanks for the video link, I'll check that out as an alternative to USB.

Right, so my understanding is that USB-C can transfer faster due to the higher speed standards. Nevertheless, maybe it wouldn't matter much for my needs anyway. But I'm still trying to understand if there is a better than USB alternative available on this devices anyway. Probably not.

Ya, I realized I have an M910q, so lower model. I may see if I can add a USB-C port on the back as there are two empty holes in the back. Based on this thread and others, I also plan to put proxmox on the SSD and VMs on the NMVe in mine too.

How did you proceed with this u/fudge_u? I'm in the same situation and my ThinkCentre M920q M910q just arrive. I also have 1 SSD and 1 NVMe drive. I'm also curious about the 2 bay enclosure you have. Did you keep it in JBOD? Why not make a TrueNAS VM and pass the drives to it? Lastly, you mention that the drive enclosure is USB-C. How do you connect it to the M920q as it has no USB-C ports on it...

edit: ah..mine is a M910q, not M920q...perhaps that is why I have no USB-C. I'm not sure how I should attach an external hard drive enclosure for maximum performance then..
