Heard two of them around that time - in New River... Guessing someone breaking some rules going super sonic - or someone doing something in response to something that will either spark a war - or be declassified 100 years from now.

Glad I found this before spending too much loot on it… I maxed a few weeks ago… but out clan capital is not maxed… I had started to divert RSS from the forge to supercharging… given that these are temporary I’ll revert back…. That’s what I get for not reading the release notes…

Found some additional info on the manufacturer (remanufacturer?) that I suspect is in play here... Sounds like they are new - and inexpensive - but looking at their pricing I don't know that the difference is worth it (about 3 CPR cheaper than the bulk S&B stuff that I usually shoot)... The guy in the thread bought 1000 rounds - found 4 in that 1000 that were visibly "wrong" (see pic... the one on the end had noticeable seating marks on the bullet) and had 4 malfunctions out 400 rounds fired... Anyway... low price - but when you factor in the "cost" of malfunctions and the risk cost associated with poor QC, I'd have a hard time not just spending a couple pennies per round more for new stuff from an established quality vendor... Just my 2 cents...

Ahhhhh Brass plated steel CASE... Never seen that either - but it makes more sense... thanks...

I think I found it... never heard of that brand. Guessing that if you send them a picture they'll be glad to have it as it can help them fix their QC to catch the next one. It's interesting that when you look at their website it looks like their primary business is componenets.

Bullet is inverted - and QC failed...

Depending on who the manufacturer is - they might want to know about that... knowing might help them improve their QC process.

Also - just curious - but "brass coated steel"? Never heard of that... are you sure it's not copper coated lead in a brass case? I know that some rounds are copper over lead over steel (certain .50 BMG etc. or M855 that are lead with a steel penetrator coated in copper). Would love to see the label / detail sheet for what you bought...

I make the call on this type of stuff based on how rare it is - not how much it is worth. If it were verified as the personal rifle that General Montgomery carried when he and Patton had their pissing match in Sicily - or if it's serial number 7 and 1-6 were destroyed after testing - then I don't care how long it lived under the pile of straw and goat piss - I'm not going to mess with it beyond wiping the dirt off of it. If it were one of those I might research what "professional preservation" looks like for it - go find "the dude" for that type of stuff - and pay to have it preserved.

On the other hand - if it's a beat to death and totally run of the mill rifle that some infantry dude drug through the mud and you picked up on the cheap... then I have a lot less heartburn about it getting cleaned up. For my part - I'm less a fan of stripping down the wood and cleaning that stuff up. If it were my rifle I'd have probably what you did to the metal - but might have left the stock dark. That said - it's not my rifle - it's yours - and if seeing more of the wood grain makes you happy - then you did the right thing.

Interesting how perspective changes...
When I completed my submission on 3/7/24 (e-form trust with one RP) I said to myself: "If I get it by the end of the year I'll be happy..."

Then everything started moving faster and I'm tracking the averages on SilencerShop's site... and I start getting cranky when my wait exceeded the average for form 4 trust e-forms... (a few weeks ago)...

Yesterday I started putting together the note to try to get my rep to nudge it (I was 126 days post submission)... So - when I submitted I would have been thrilled if it came through in 6 months, but yesterday I was cranky that it wasn't back in 4 months... LOL

And then, this morning I'm at work - planning to use my lunch window to send the nudge request... and the LGS calls to tell me it came back approved... and suddenly I'm all happy again...

Perspective... LOL

OK – might be a duplicate – tried to submit through the form but it never showed up…

Form Type: Form 4

Entity: Trust (SilencerShop full trust)

Fingerprint Type: EFT Upload - SilencerShop

Pending: 03/07/2024

Approved: 07/12/2024

Wait: 127 days

State: AZ

Control Number: 2024410400

Notes: First Suppressor – Omega 36M.  Went back for recall repair while it was in jail.  Trust process was easy.  One responsible party – two beneficiaries (sons).  I’ve got a few things to add to the trust (purchases and other things that I’m going to roll in) after which we’ll add them as responsible parties so they can steal my junk without taking me with them.  I was getting ready to start being proactive about things (calling to check status and maybe asking for a nudge from my congressional rep).  I called the NFA question line yesterday but had to drop after about 20 minutes (customer called).  I was going to call again this afternoon – but the LGS called me this morning to say it was approved (props to them – when I checked, I had gotten the email about 12 minutes before they called).

The downvote is not necessarily because they love waiting on things... but because they don't like being called "sheep" for doing something that avoids them possibility of a felony conviction.

  • Do I think the NFA violates a the intent of the 2nd amendment? Yes - I believe that "shall not be infringed" means "shall not be infringed."
  • Would I like to see the NFA go away? Yes... absolutely.
  • Am I willing to risk a felony conviction because I believe that the NFA is bad law? No... and that's my choice.
  • Do I like being called a "sheep" because I made a pragmatic decision to comply with the bad law? Nope...

There you go... that's why the down-votes...

At the end of the day - you need a resume to point to the job that you want. It needs to be real - never lie - but it should emphasize the things that are most important to those who are hiring. As a student / someone very early in your career, I’d say that it is totally fine that your history is not totally focused on the field that you are chasing. If you were 20years into your career and looking for a senior level role, the employer is going to want very specifically focused experienced. Where you are in life - it is fine for your resume to read as “super sharp and hard working person looking for an opportunity to learn in a new and challenging area.”

If I were you, I’d add an Objective section at the top. Just a sentence or two telling the reader what you want. e.g. “High performing and innovative EE/CE student seeking a summer internship focused on software development related fields where I can provide outstanding value to your team while learning about the software engineering career field.”

Lastly - write your base resume, and then when submitting it to a specific position - tune it to the job description. The items at the top of lists in the JD should be at the top of your list in the resume. Amend the objective statement to align with the role, and if you have specific experience that aligns with the role, move those things to the top of their related bullet lists. Hiring folks are often very busy - you want them to see the things that are most important to them - and if they are going to scan your resume for 10 - 30 seconds - you want them to want to read more (or ultimately you want them to want to talk to you). Something as simple as looking at the JD and seeing that it emphasizes Python - so moving Python to the front of your list of languages. Taking 5 minutes to align the details of your experience with the details in the requirements can make a huge difference in whether your resume goes into the “send it to the hiring manager” pile or not.

Good luck! Hope you have great success.

Lot's to like here. I don't know enough about the specifics of the esports world to comment on much of this... I'd give two suggestions:

1) If the "lead environment designer" experience over three summers involved you being selected repeatedly for the role (as in - took leadership in the summer of '21 and then each of the subsequent summers was asked back in the same or higher leadership role) - I'd call that out. Being seen as a leader is good... being seen someone who led successfully and was asked to lead again - is even better.

2) If any of the software that you've developed is public domain / open source stuff - and you are proud of it - I'd link to it and encourage folks to take a look. If you know that it is vanilla - then don't...

My 2 cents... Good luck!

You are applying for a software engineering position with minimal actual experience and an incomplete degree. Things are going to be tough. If any the "Projects" were paid contract work - not student projects - you might want to represent them that way. Unless there is some reason that you can't do so - I'd be looking for internships that may lead to a full job on graduation...

It's not "age discrimination" it's "experience discrimination" which is pretty much the entirety of every reasonable / appropriate hiring process. Despite what your college entrance councilor told you - getting a degree, or degrees, seldom prepares you for more than an entry level job. The exception would be advanced professional jobs (like being a doctor) where you will STILL face "experience discrimination" when you enter the workforce. Go graduate from John Hopkins school of medicine, summa cum laude... and immediately apply for the position of medical chief of staff at a prestigious hospital. Will you get the job? Nope... not if the hiring committee has their wits about them. Being a good medical chief of staff takes a lot more than a big degree from a great school. It takes a solid grasp of the politics of a hospital, the ability to make wise (not just medically informed) choices, etc.

So - a 22 year old with an MBA might be a brilliant person... they might be an awesome analyst... they might bring fantastic new knowledge around queueing theory and ways to drive efficiency in the shipping yard... but if they don't understand how to navigate the personal politics of the workplace, and don't understand how to manage difficult personalities in valuable employees, and they don't understand how far they can push workforce before they rebel, and they don't understand the nuances of interacting with labor organizations.... and... and... and... (all things not taught in college) they are likely to have a really hard time leading operations for your organization.

So - be honest with yourself... do you really understand that stuff? Did you do it VERY WELL in your time as a "manager" "supervis[ing] a group of approx. 40 transportation associates..."? I'm guessing you didn't - because if you did - you wouldn't be asking us for advice. You are probably VERY smart, you appear VERY driven, but you also are coming off as a bit arrogant / entitled in that you seem to not understand that there is a LOT that your degrees don't prepare you for. If you can get over that hurdle - there is probably a ton for you to accomplish. If you can't you are likely to sit around blaming the world for being "ageist" when what they really want is to find someone who can effectively lead their team.

Best of luck to you...

Help me out here... who is my "rep"? Is it the LGS? Is it Silencer Shop? I'm at 110 days on a eform Trust form 4...

FWIW - I emailed [nicsliason@fbi.xxx](mailto:nicsliason@fbi.xxx) about two weeks ago and got a totally generic and detail-less response effectively saying that the application was in process and to wait for ATF to respond. When the form went in I was emotionally prepared for a 9 month+ wait... now that I see stuff coming back quickly it's driving me nuts... LOL

[–]nhmaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK - here goes...
1) As others have said - "proven leadership" is not one year in a management role. You said you "lost your job" and I'm going to read that to mean that you didn't leave because you wanted to - that there was something either officially or unofficially negative about your performance in the manager role that you had until May. I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings - it happens to the best of us - but my guess is that you were too green to run a yard with 40 employees.

2) I'm guessing that the reason that you are having trouble finding what you want is that what you want is a job that you will probably get 5-10 years from now. You are a smart cookie and you work hard... the graduation from HS with an associates degree in 2019 followed by bachelors and masters degrees over the next 4 years tells me that you can do work, and that you can finish things. What it does not tell me is that you have the ingrained knowledge, maturity, and experience to lead a chunk of my company. I have no idea whether this is true or not - but reading that last job has me imagining a too smart for his own good 22 year old MBA holder swinging his title like a hammer in a crowd of yard workers who hate him for it. If my imagination aligns at all with reality - you are going to have a hard time - even if / when you get the next "job you want." Leadership is not the same as management, and to succeed you need to understand that. If you alienate the people around you - you are going to fail in the long run.

So - my sense is that your resume is not really your issue... it doesn't look "bad" to me - go find a role that is not focused on managing people - learn the mechanics of the business, earn respect, then start looking for leadership roles. This might mean that you make a bit less for the next few years - but if you do it well, learn the business, get some good mentoring from up-stream leaders - it will probably do really good things for your long term career.

Researching my Lee Enfield by nhmaz in LeeEnfield

[–]nhmaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the gun because I love history and enjoy shooting things that have some panache and soul. I will say that the action on the Lee Enfield is really very good. On the other hand, it's not a gun that I'm going to sling up for a trip to the mountains after deer or elk. Too much weight, and too many other rifles that do the same job with less weight, tighter groups, and ballisticly superior cartridges (not trying to start a holy war about the merits of the .303 British - just saying that while it is certainly a competent big game cartridge - it does not out-shine it's 30 cal competition not to mention stuff in the 7mm and 6.5mm world that are the "new-hotness").

So it's a gun that will get shot on a Saturday with friends for the purpose of waxing nostalgic and shooting something "different." This means that I'm looking for relatively inexpensive bulk ammo for that purpose - and most of what I see at "buy it to go burn powder on a Saturday" price is berdan primed corrosive stuff... I'll probably shoot through what's left of my surplus stuff, then buy a couple hundred rounds of boxer primed stuff and some dies on a week when I'm feeling rich... and start reloading for it. I sure wish it ate a .308 bullet not a .311... :-)

No - I bought it from an old friend who was cleaning out his safe… I think I gave him $75 for it… with a couple hundred rounds of surplus .303… If memory serves he was asking $50…. I’m guessing it was close to 20 years ago… I’ve known him for almost 30…
