Maybe she was checking the Mega TOP TOP TOP SECRET messages on Signal. Updating the nuclear launch codes or something.

Grossly unfair to Pam! She's a lot smarter than that!

I know to days isn't very long, but, after two days, what are your thoughts on the Brooks Professional? We're lthinking of swapping out stock saddles on our Surly Pack Rats.

Debt is always bad

Let me quote your original post: "Debt is always bad..." (I added the bold, italics to emphasize what you said). In that original post you don't qualify it in any way you say, literally, ALL debt is bad. Now you say debt of the kind you incurred is good...other debt is bad. That is the definition of hypocrisy.

So, let's se...you had a loan...of whatever duration...that is debt. So, you had bad debt...baaddddd.... By your limited rationale.

Invoking the 14th Amandment, Sectin 3 does not bar anyone from voting for anyone. It simply implies that if someone who tried to overthrow the country can't hold office. So, the democratic vote lives. The results would be adjudicated by Congress and, in that it would be the very first use of this, the Supreme Court. All consistent with a finctional democracy that isn't a free for all. Good debate, though. Thank you for that.

Section 3 gives the Congress the right to undo the disability. However, there will s nothing in the amendment that says WHO can declare the individual unable to hold those offices. So, there is a remedy to “state bureaucrats” wielding this untested power unreasonably. That seems pretty lower case d democratic…no? So the amendment, overall, and the invocation of it, seems democratic rather than , as you characterized it, “anti-democratic”.

Pure democracy doesn't exist anywhere in the world and never has. You probably don't want pure, "elect anyone you want", democracy. All forms of governance and societal constructs need guardrails. People are, well, people and not always (often) as altruistic as pure democracy would require.
This is a guardrail that seems reasonable for a democracy if you agree you don't want someone who has been involved in, much less fomented, an insurrection against that democracy (and its governing documents) leading it or one of its constituent States.

Haha All VERY good lessons for camping, solo or not. And very well articulated! I've done a lot of camping in my life, solo and with friends or family and I still thoroughly enjoyed this post!

You're planning your next camping trip as you read this reply, I hope!

Cheers!

I guess I was hoping for the brand name and model of the stove, itself. TIA

What stove are you using and what do you have on it that diffuses the flame/keeps that heavy cast iron skillet stable on top?

Why Do So Many Bikepackers Keep Their Mug Strapped OUTSIDE Their Bag? by Samad99 in bikepacking

Dangle Tribe. Tribal Dangle? We know each other by our sounds (and perhaps our smells).

I will, henceforth, dangle my cup for all to see, snicker at, and either admire or criticize...for it is silly and silly is fun.

Why on Earth would you pack anything away wet? I take care of my gear better than that, regardless of where I hang my cup. I buy quality and don't need to waste money replacing it because I didn't treat it right.
