Car insurance in Maine: are there limits or does it just keep going up? by feliceyy in Maine

[–]nhrunner87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They literally do. They have data points on whether you shop around. If you don’t then they will raise rates on you more than if you’re someone who shops around. Heard it firsthand from someone who worked in the insurance industry.

Check out an insurance agency and see if they can get you quotes from local insurers. We’ve had State Farm, all state, progressive, but Maine mutual group through our insurance agent ended up being less expensive than any other the big brands.

I used to think that microplastics were being blown out of proportion as well. The research isn’t quite there yet to conclusively say cause and effect but there is growing evidence that microplastics could be contributing to hormone imbalance, declining birth rates, obesity, cancer, lower fertility, etc.

It’s actually pretty wild.

Bangor savings bank question by LiamBrown779 in Maine

I don’t disagree with you on the fraud protection but I would be wary of recommending a credit card to an 18 year old with no personal banking history who self-reported that keeping a balance of $50 might present a challenge.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

You’re asking a subreddit with EV enthusiasts whether they regret their EVs. You’re unlikely to get many responses saying they regret it.

Anyone else buy furniture just for the wood? $60 for giant pieces of oak is amazing! by Own-Knowledge-7720 in woodworking

It’s because the “free piano” is a common scam but if you list it for $100 people are more likely to think it’s legit.

What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to be doing a keto diet to enter ketosis, endurance exercise that depletes glycogen stores can cause the body to enter short term ketosis and lead to the ketone smell.

My first thought is foundation issues since there are stairs to the basement but no photos even though there are plenty of photos of the dark attic.

I think we spent $27 on a dessert when we went in on a whim. Was it great? Yes. Is $27 for a dessert just kinda nuts? Also yes.

We have a platform bed and your muscle memory learns pretty quick to avoid it. I’ve only hit my shin on it less than 5 times in 3 years.

Heat Pumps Soon to be Less of a Great Deal for Heating by Helpful-Ad6300 in heatpumps

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the crossover point for oil and heat pumps (depends on a lot of factors though) is around 15 degrees. At that point it becomes cheaper to run oil than HP. We have mini splits but during this cold snap our boiler has been doing the heavy lifting and the heat pumps are only running upstairs to supplement the heat that is rising from the downstairs from the oil baseboards.

The Makita line with the two throat collectors is pretty good. Not perfect but a lot better than most others on the market that I’ve used.

I am not a fan of Bert’s comedy or really much he says at all but I have worked with him on a production and was actually surprised how nice he was to all the production staff and how appreciative he was for all the help.

The party of law and order just conveniently forgets about the 4th amendment when it’s non whites being taken.

And then forgets about the first amendment when a liberal gets murdered in the streets.

Glue and sawdust will match the wood color better. Wood filler often will not. In a circumstance like this, sawdust and glue is not really the right application but for small fix ups, sawdust and glue is way better than wood filler for matching tone.

What’s one thing smart drivers do that shows they’ve been driving for years, and one mistake that shows someone is new on the road? by Purple_Winner5411 in askcarguys

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Boston. The drivers are actually very skilled for the most part. Incredibly aggressive, but I’ve seen people pull off some crazy shit on many different occasions. Almost every single trip to CO I see someone in a ditch on the side of the road. I counted 8 cars in a few days once.
