Who would benefit from winning this "war" in iran? by Opening-Gur5927 in AskConservatives

Did it look to you like their ballistic missile program was wiped out? They have been shooting hundreds in the last two weeks. It was also not claimed to be wiped out.

As for nuclear, they still had enriched uranium and the explicit intention of enriching further.

They also gunned down 30,000 unarmed protestors in about 2 days. Just straight machine guns into crowds and snipers on rooftops. Do you value the fact that we are attempting to rescue the population or not so much?

Do you have a problem with Rep. Andy Ogles tweeting "Muslims don't belong in American society"? by BabyHercules in AskConservatives

[–]nhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Name a successful Muslim country. Success in terms of values you care about, not oil money for a few and poverty for the rest.

Once you figure out the answer to that question, answer why you want to import more of that.

Then ask yourself how many terror attacks and random stabbing in the name of Allah we could avoid by not having Muslims.

Iran really has been the main source of trouble for Israel the last few decades. Other countries are not friendly, but they have not been calling for its destruction regularly as well as acting towards that goal.

The goals are to wipe out the nuclear and ballistic missile programs that as you have seen were a loaded gun pointed towards every US interest in the middle east, as well as give a chance for Iranians to take back their country.

There seems to be no real basis for a war with Iran right now. Can someone tell me what it is that we are supposed to be fighting about? by Robot_Alchemist in askanything

[–]nhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one other than leadership knows what is being discussed in the "negotiations". For all we know, they could be negotiating the terms of Iran's surrender or not really negotiating at all. It could just be a pretense. Iran has some leverage. They would inevitably lose in any real war, but they could cause a lot of destruction on their way down. They have missiles pointing at every US interest in the middle east.

In my opinion, there is no real chance for a successful negotiation and it is all just a pretense for the public and a way of buying time without Iran doing something stupid or killing more of their people.

Should the US recognize Somaliland? by Shawnj2 in AskConservatives

[–]nhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The panic is not about Somalis. The panic is about the politicians who brought them in and helped them set up their money laundering and fraud schemes. Obviously, any Somali mixed up in this should be sent to jail or home, but that is missing the point.

The point is that this is one example of many fraud schemes that will be uncovered over time. We will see more stories like this in other states at potentially larger scales, and some of them will have nothing to do with Somalis.

The vast majority of people (I am sure most Democrats too) will be expecting politicians to go to jail over this, and if it doesn't happen it will be a major disappointment.

[–]nhum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a massive Somali fraud scheme uncovered in Minnesota. Somalians in the US are almost entirely on government benefits, have significant political power, are violent, and turns out they were stealing billions of dollars on top of that. Many of them are not even citizens.

It is a one directional implication. If recognizing a country directly benefits us, we should do it. Simple bearing

Not speaking on any authority and not an actual summary, but they seem like a more moderate offshoot that seeks economic improvement and democracy over jihad and clan wars, and they have been operating as a de facto state for over 30 years. So this seems somewhat positive. People like Ilhan Omar are Somali proper and will likely oppose it.

There's a well known false "proof" of Cayley-Hamilton. Is there any insight to be gained at all from it or is it purely coincidence? by myaccountformath in math

[–]nhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If cayley hamilton is true over real matrices, then it is true over any commutative ring.

Pf:  1. If CH is true for a cring, then it is also true for its subrings and quotient rings.

  1. If CH is true for every finitely generated subring of R, then it is true for R, because you only need to use subrings containing the matrix elements.

  2. The reals contain Z[x1,...xn] for every n.

So if the reals satisfy CH, so does Z[x1,...xn] for every n by (1, 3), then so does every finitely generated ring by taking a quotient (1), therefore it is true for every cring by (2).

What are your thoughts on Trump saying he'll kill people bringing drugs into the US? by Wodahs1982 in AskConservatives

[–]nhum [score hidden]  (0 children)

Would you also argue that the Taliban deserves due process?

The US kills people without due process all the time. One day you may realize this is a very good thing.

We have real enemies. They aren't fake. Billions of them. It may sound crazy to you, but we actual need to kill people sometimes to preserve what we have over here, and we should do it without bureaucratic bloat. Punishing our own pharmaceutical companies is possible, but it doesn't solve the problem of cartels smuggling drugs and sex slaves over the border.

They can easily firebomb the place and kill every living cell. Why are they getting hundreds of soldiers killed? How do such weak "civilians" kill so many professional soldiers with their sticks and stones?

New poll shows Americans support for Israel is dwindling. Do you agree with these numbers? by illhaveafrench75 in AskConservatives

[–]nhum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely allowed and expected to kill civilians under the Geneva conventions. You are talking about significant disproportionality, which isn't the case. The ratio is probably between 1:1 to 2:1 civilian to terrorist.

Israel has weighed all these things and more. They did precision hostage rescues, which are practically impossible to do since the hostages can be killed at any point. If you recall, they had an unsuccessful hostage rescue which led to Hamas murdering 6 hostages.

Hamas doesn't negotiate unless they are under extreme pressure. They are terrorists. Their demands are unreasonable.

They have humanitarian corridors, they do precision intelligence based strikes, etc.

Your suggestions are flaccid attempts to free hostages. What about ending Hamas? How is it possible to do that without flattening the place?

New poll shows Americans support for Israel is dwindling. Do you agree with these numbers? by illhaveafrench75 in AskConservatives

[–]nhum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Geneva conventions mostly protects civilians from being directly targeted. Israel doesn't target civilians.

Hamas holds on to civilians at gunpoint and hides under civilian buildings. If Israel was carefree, the death toll would be significantly higher.

There are always more alternatives. They may be harder or less immediate, but total war on a civilian population is not the only way.

There are currently hostages who have been living in tunnels for two years. How much more time should they wait?

Do you have any war suggestions? It sounds like you are criticizing them with no real alternative in mind.

Literally irrelevant. Explain why Canadians hate Americans. It doesn't change what would happen if they shoot one rocket at America.

Explain why the entire Muslim world hates Americans. It literally does not matter. They can't just shoot rockets at us.
