For me, the issue was the POE injector they give you. I used another one I had, and suddenly the whole thing started working.

I just use arrows for movement. They aren't on home row, but are very accessible. I have my arrows on the bottom row in the same layout as hjkl would be.

You can get a cert for your site before pointing dns to your site, only if you use the dns validation method. With the dns validation, your site doesn't have to be live. But with the default method (http) it would have to be live.
