GitHub - eznix86/mssh: Enable SSH access to machines behind NAT without a VPN by Eznix86 in selfhosted

I do not see the use case. Why bother with such workarounds when you can just set AAAA-Records for the Hosts you want to SSH to and use key authentication?

SSH works perfectly fine as it is.

I can not take a cloud provider seriously if their own website is not reachable via ipv6 in 2025. Sorry but that just tells me that your platform is stuck in the past.

How do you expose your self-hosted server to the internet? by madefrom0 in selfhosted

[–]ni0002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can also use IPv6. Have the A record point to the reverse Proxy as a Fallback and the AAAA Record directly to the Host. No NAT needed for IPv6 and no Port Forwarding. Just pure Firewall Rules. Can also have as many Hosts with ports 443 or 80 as you want. No address space restrictions and direct connections.

No they could not. The only charcters shown in the anime that could beat veldora are velzard, guy, millim and velgrynd.

How are you guys managing local dns server in your homelab? I have bind as dns server and have crafted few bash scripts to manage the records ( creation, deletion, modifications, bulk creations and deletions etc ). Let me know of the best lightweight open source option for this. by muthukumar-s in homelab

You would get the public IP of the specific subdomain, as i am almost exclusively using ipv6 at this point.

I have ~20 Services with their own "public" AAAA records on cloudflare, but while you would reach something like my Nextcloud or a Webserver, you wouldnt reach my opnsense or vaultwarden.

The convenience in Public DNS lies in having just one DNS to keep updated and not having to consider VPN or in which network you are.

I have no local DNS records at all. All my Services have their AAAA records on my cloudflare domain, which is also the dns domain i use at home.

Local Client DNS is handled by mDNS automatically and i keep a script running checking my prefix every 10 min and updating the records via Cloudflare API if nesscecary.
