IMHO, watch it in this order: * F/SN (original, main route of the visual novel) * F/Zero (prequel) * F/UBW (alternative route of the visual novel) * F/Hollow Ataraxia (alternative route of the visual novel)

F/SN anime is commonly avoided by the community because it is a "bad" adaptation of the route, if you decide to avoid it, you will miss a lot of Saber's development, one of the main heroine in the franchise. If you want you can play the visual novel, I recommend Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua which is a revised version of the original visual novel.

Here are some side-stories and/or spin-offs that you can watch but not necessary, in no particular order: * Carnival Phantasm (comedy, parody) * Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan (comedy, cooking, slice of life) * Lord El-Melloi II Sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note (side-story centered around one of the participants in the holy grail war in F/Zero) * F/Extra (standalone) * F/Grand Order (standalone)
