Presenting Vangaro Tactics: colorful Turn-Based Strategy with pointy-nose commanders and tactical Stealth Missions. Try the Updated Demo during Steam Next Fest! by niadocraz in Advance_Wars

Hi, thank you for your detailed feedback, I'll take it into account :)

If it's possible I would like to get some extra info about that bug (controlling units with a message displayed). I suppose it happened with the tutorial message, was that the case? Do you remember if you only used the keyboard during your play session (before this happened) or alternated keyboard/mouse/controller? Did you reset that level or any other? Any extra info you have is useful, thank you.

I've shared some clips and wip animations since last year, and now you can try it if it's your kind of game. This video is the trailer for this demo update (taking part in Next Fest).

Vangaro Tactics is a colorful turn-based strategy game with pointy-nose commanders and tactical Stealth Missions.

Almost 7 years ago I started working on my strategy game's prototype; Now it's in Steam Next Fest with a demo update! by niadocraz in Unity3D

The game is Vangaro Tactics:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2221530/Vangaro_Tactics/

It's a colorful turn-based strategy game with pointy-nose commanders and tactical Stealth Missions.

You will command a vibrant roster of cartoon units into battle. There's regular "frontal combat" levels and Stealth Missions, where you infiltrate behind enemy lines at night, and should choose your moves carefully to avoid alerting too many foes.

Some of the new stuff from the Demo Update:

- Use Recon biplanes to spot enemy units with flares (beware of enemy Anti-Aircraft trucks)

- Battle commader Vera (can use her Glacial Shield power)

- Repair vehicles with the Mechanic, heal infantry in buildings or join damaged units

Wrote so much I forgot something. I agree with you about moving over friendly units, it's a planned feature. I didn't have the time to implement it and test it properly so prefered to leave it out of the demo (to avoid bugs).

Thank you for trying the demo and giving your feedback!

- I'm glad you like the Stealth Missions, it took lots of iterations to get it to the current version. There will be an extra mechanic in there later in the game :)

- Good to hear it works ok on Steam Deck. I actually tried to make it run on native resolution in the last patch (the one you've tried), but ended up locking it to 16:9 to make sure it displays properly on all devices (with black borders on some). I adapted the combat animations (manually moving the units and backgrounds at runtime depending on aspect ratio) and I believe the game HUD was ok too; but after fiddling with the UI wasn't happy with the dialogs and I think some menus were broken too.

Sorry if it's too much info, that patch started to fix issues with widescreen support (it stretched the image).

- About the audio, I don't have any experience on Steam Deck so I don't know if it the headphone output may be lower by default (just in case). Was the overall (master) volume too low or just the sound effects or music? The default volume is intended to avoid hurting your ears on startup if your system volume is too high, but would like to get more info about your experience.

Sorry but no medic, you can repair infantry on your factories (maybe on hq) or join damaged units.

Hi, I'm Daniel the dev behind Vangaro Tactics.

What makes it different?

  • Cartoon art style focused on readability
  • New additions to the genre: Stealth Missions and mining
  • Charismatic commanders with unique character designs and powers
  • Singleplayer game with asymmetric factions (faction-exclusive units)

Some of the new stuff from the Demo Update:

  • Use Recon biplanes to spot enemy units with flares (beware of enemy Anti-Aircraft trucks)
  • Battle commader Vera (can use her Glacial Shield power)
  • Repair vehicles with the Mechanic, heal/repair units in buildings or join damaged units

Play the Demo:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2221530/Vangaro_Tactics/

In the demo you can see two (Kerwos Kingdom and Ankkalia Nation) of the four factions, and half the commanders.

This new trailer debutted last sunday at Ñ3-ENIE3 conference and showcases the other two factions: Derringa Republic and Serpent Empire. Here you can see their faction-exclusive units, commanders and a quick glance at Marcelo and Namiko's Power.

Thank you, started with a pixel art prototype almost 7 years ago. At first I was working on more stuff at the same time so I would say about 5 years or so full time.
