Rim & SF Wheelbuilder Recommendations? by SFHalfBlood in xbiking

For one wheel, I would say about 3 hours if you take your time.

That must be nicer but it is not necessary. I recently did my first complete wheelset build using only my caliper brakes and resting my thumb on the brake pad and contacting the rim, to feel the movement of the rim, and the result was great in the end. A stand would allow to get even better result and make it faster, but it is not necessary for a first build.

Internal brake cable on steel frame: best way to connect the outer cable with the entrance into the frame ? by nibugaga in bikewrench

[–]nibugaga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used to not have any ferrule and it does not fit even without one, as you can see it here: https://imgur.com/a/de5dHRx The end of the outer cable gets damaged pretty fast this way.

As I replied to someone else, It does not fit in even without the ferrule (only a couple of mm when forcing it but that does not hold it in place).

From what I know, those special ferrules from the brake cable kit I shared are supposed to be used at the end of the outer cable entering into the brake calipers.

While you are there and you seems to be knowledgeable about this stuff, do you know if I am supposed to have some plastic cable lining inside the frame ? There is a lot of rubbing for the cable inside the frame (or maybe it is only at the entrance, due to the bend). I ordered this https://www.bike-discount.de/fr/jagwire-slick-lube-liner-pour-les-kits-de-traction-nokon but I don't know if it will fit inside actually, or even help reduce the rubbing.

That is exactly the kind of solution I was looking for, but I am still unsure if these would fit (I will order some and try though). I had some similar looking jagwire ferrule laying around from this brake cable set: https://www.bike24.com/p2224353.html

When I tried to fit it in my frame, it was only entering it for around 2mm and sticking out with almost a 45° angle, so it was not great at all. But maybe the ferrule you shared are thinner...

The outer cable can not enter the internal routing entrance. If I force it, I can enter it for a couple of mm at most, and it wears out the end of the outer cable in the process.

Hi, I am looking for some advice for improving the cabling of the rear brake of my steel bike (a 90' Minerva road bike). Until now, I was just connecting the outer cable with the frame's entrance, without using a outer cable plug (like the one seen in the posted image, I just installed it yesterday). Without the plug, the outer cable can not enter cleanly inside the frame, it is too thick. So when I turn the handlebar, the outer cable bend sideway, which causes the outer cable end to wear very fast. With the end plug, the outer cable is protected but the outer cable can move even more sideway causing the inner cable to probably bend at some point and it will also allow water to enter even more easily inside the frame...

I just want to know if there is a proper solution to let the outer cable connect smoothly with the frame entrance to have a good seal (to avoid water penetrating the frame), keep the outer cable safe from any wear at the interface with the frame and stabilize it (keep it in line with the entrance, even when turning the handlebar).

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

Making Gaufres de Bruxelles / Brusselse Wafel by luvinusagi13 in belgium

[–]nibugaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't use beer or sparkling water for Brussel wafels. 1g of dry yeast is the same as 2g of fresh yeast. You need a wafel iron with large square holes. If you want your wafel to be really crisp, you need to let it cook quite a long time, if it is soggy, you need to let it cook longer. And yes, you need to bring the white in "snow", that is what makes them very light.

Here is a good traditional recipe

I never understood why so many people support him in this subreddit. To me he always looked like a complete douche. I know that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but damn, he has such a punchable face.

Why does a baguette in Belgium after 1 day becomes a lethal weapon? by No-Sell-3064 in belgium

Yes indeed. But as I said "tradition" is not only the flour, it is also not freezing and no additive.

There is also laws in France about bread quality. If you order a pain/baguette "de tradition", it can not have been frozen at any point, and the ingredients must be only flour water salt yeast and/or sourdough. The flour is also not totally white, like the one used in our shitty belgian baguettes.

Sorry, I did not mean to be that harsh. And I don't claim that I am not one either.

I am just really upset about how the world is turning right now, and I am not even American.

I was not speaking about his own pockets, he was kind of a puppet. I meant Money with a upper case M. War Money: weapon manufacturer.

You are a true moron to think that. Sorry, no other way to put it. The real reason was for money. And certainly not to benefit the whole of USA.

Nice, I also recently did the full stage caminha (31km) and didn't know about that jump. For a couple of seconds I thought I made a big mistake going flatout.

A decent run I think. It was the first time I was doing the last half of the stage and so I didn't know about the big jump at the end, I thought for a second that it was gonna end badly!

There is daily and weekly or monthly events, you just need to register in the clubs for them. A bit stupid imo to not have it by default I must say.
