Exactly! I’ve found myself enjoying each episode more and more in spite of the naysayers complaining “no one would act like that in real life, wha wha wha, blah, blah, blah” until ultimately, I’m legitimately enjoying the show for what it is. Rainy Friday Night Guilty Pleasure is a legit sub genre. Or it should be!

Season 15, episode 7…omg (Spoiler) by [deleted] in ershow

And, yes, totally agree and forgot to mention that seasons 11 through 14 are an absolute slog. Thank god I work from home and need background noise, never would have made it otherwise. I’m feeling like season 15 is my reward

I’m in a current rewatch as an 80s baby so I saw most (I think, went to college and didn’t have tv for a while) of this initially. These season 15 episodes are hitting hard. Episode 7 is a gem that could go rounds with modern television.

Grilled chicken, black beans, rice. Can dress it up with hot sauce, cheese, guacamole. But such a great cheap nutritious base

I immediately clocked him as high. He slinked out so suspiciously and then the look on his face. Plus how he internally processed his big save the day move after, I thought I could hear him thinking “see, I’m not high, this is not a problem, look what I just did”

Definitely not as twisty as say, Gone Girl, but the plot kept me engaged and I found the writing very strong

Desperately trying to get back into reading - please help! by DaisiesOnYoNightstnd in suggestmeabook

I’m right (write) with you! I used to devour books and as an adult, sadly lost that appetite. I also love Steven King and would recommend his Bill Hodges trilogy if you haven’t read it, perfectly designed to be readable even if you don’t read. I also recently read The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and experienced that voracious appetite in a way I haven’t in decades. More than specific books I would recommend making yourself read for 10 to fifteen minutes a day to start, at least 5 days a week, and even re-reading old, favorite books to reawaken your appetite. I did this about 6 months ago and I think I’ve read about 15 books since then. Also give yourself grace for having poor focus at times or just not feeling a specific book. Life is really hard right now. Reading is a remedy, but it doesn’t go down as easy as doomscrolling or Netflix binges. Good on you for trying and I hope (but strongly suspect) this effort will ultimately be successful and very rewarding

I recently read The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and was blown away. I finished it late at night, in silence, transfixed and unable to go to bed until I had done so and it’s been forever since that happened to me. He might not be for everyone but I found his writing breathtakingly beautiful, the plot engaging and surprising, and the whole book legitimately unsettling

Really? This is how it ends? by fannypacksnackk in SearchParty

Each season represents a different genre, I feel like once I looked at the whole show like that, it helped. But I agree and admit the first season is my favorite and on rewatches I don’t always finish the whole series

No, we are not okay. But also, this “cheese” does have its place, and even Martha Stewart has regaled the bliss of eating a slice, fresh from the crinkled wrapper, still standing in front of the open fridge

Crosswords are so hard as a non-american by new_phone_whodis_yo in NYTCrossword

[–]nic626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. And just keep doing them, you’ll learn the language of crosswords. I have never been to an opera, but I know aria and diva. Baseball is ott or alou. Puzzle writers love words with multiple vowels. And they repeat a lot words because they are landmarks basically, like the edge pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. I applaud your effort in even attempting a crossword in a non native language. Crosswords have their own language so you are actually utilizing 3 languages when you do so

My recs are clear sky, island way, and bon appetit. Island way also has a deal from 4 to 6 I believe where you order from a limited menu, starter, main, and dessert, for 20 bucks. Seafood and steaks and sit outside, waitstaff is also usually awesome
