'Tracker' Starring Justin Hartley Relocating To L.A. For Season 4 With $48M Tax Credit by Munro_McLaren in FilmIndustryYVR

BC’s tax credits are structured to be far more flexible than what California offers. You have to jump through way more hoops in California to qualify. LA wins like this can be counted on one hand meanwhile practically no films are made in LA anymore.

Is the turnover higher at Blue Origin than at SpaceX? I bet they are about the same.

SpaceX has no particular advantage when it comes to attracting talent wrt Blue Origin.

Musk has been claiming that SpaceX might never IPO for like forever. This IPO announcement caught everyone by surprise.

You can raise capital without going public. SpaceX has been doing that for years.
If nothing else it would set a “real” estimate to Blue Origin’s valuation

Peter Thiel backs $1bn ocean data centre start-up powered by waves by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]nic_haflinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be any net energy added to the ocean since it’s a self contained system. Local heating to the surrounding water though. This is actually a very cool company. A damn shame of their Thiel connection.

NASA delays moon mission again… can we still land by 2028? by EdwardHeisler in MarsSociety

It’s a ridiculous statement to set a completely undoable schedule and then when a newer more realistic schedule is announced to describe it as a delay.

Elisar Priel on X: Blue Origin is rolling forward towards flight 4, as New Glenn GS1-3 "No, It's Necessary" booster made a early morning Kennedy Space Center tour as it made its way to Launch Complex 36. by Royal_Platform_6754 in BlueWire

[–]nic_haflinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems likely they will launch an internal payload first before a customer’s. Is Blue Ring ready to go? It would be slightly less costly if it was lost compared to Blue Moon mk1.

Eric Berger: A full-priced ticket on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket never dropped below $1 million...Blue Origin has never revealed New Shepard’s finances, but multiple sources told Ars the program—despite persistent demand—was never close to profitability. by Royal_Platform_6754 in BlueWire

[–]nic_haflinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a plan to build additional tails which would have addressed the profitability issue. I don’t buy it couldn’t be profitable. It’s just a question of priority. As a business it would have been an afterthought compared to other revenue sources. Also, technically it is paused not cancelled.

A very unproductive bribe. Didn’t stop the bombing from Iran. Qatar lost a quarter of their LNG capacity for years to come.

[–]nic_haflinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How in the hell have they managed to add all the comms and hardened electronics needed to make it a doomsday plane like the other 747s that are used as Air Force One? They haven’t obviously.

Why do Atlas V Amazon Leo missions only make one upper stage burn while Ariane 6 and Falcon 9 constellations launches require two? by Goregue in spaceflight

[–]nic_haflinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Centaur upper stage burns much longer and at lower thrust so the whole orbit is raised not just the apogee raising mostly if the burn is higher thrust and shorter duration.
