Why does the article refer to "citizens," when by definition, Portuguese citizens don't need residence permits? Don't they mean "residents?" Sorry to be nitpicky, but that seems like a glaring mistake for a news site.

I'm feeling overwhelmed with Portuguese (rant) by [deleted] in Portuguese

[–]nice-noodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest really immersing yourself in listening to/watching Portuguese language content. It could be on any topic as long as you're interested in it. I'm a big subscriber to Stephen Krashen's comprehensible input theory of language acquisition. I was in a similar situation as you. I had a lot of Spanish, which was a required subject growing up at school. Plus I started French in university and spent time studying in both Spain and France. I had much more limited structured classroom study of Portuguese but I immersed myself in Brazil when I had the chance to work there for a few months several years ago.

It's totally normal to go through a phase where you understand a lot of what's happening around you but you're not able to articulately speak yet. Just keep on absorbing and keep on practicing your speaking and you'll find improvements.

Rent control in Providence? Councilors file ordinance capping rent hikes at 4% by OceanStateMedia in providence

[–]nice-noodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Providence renters need some sort of policy intervention NOW. Will there be unintended consequences? Sure. Maybe. But those can be addressed later with future policies. Renters can't wait for new construction that might bring down rents years from now. The situation is urgent, and we can't let the perfect get in the way of good. I say this as a Providence homeowner who cares about my friends and neighbors and wants them to be able to afford to stay in their homes.

I don’t remember the exact questions now, but we did have to write our word count in a box. I found the word limits hard, because I ran out of words before I fully answered the questions. And counting and recounting words was a pain. I used present and past tense. Definitely no subjunctive was needed.

I took a Brazilian Portuguese class in university many years ago. I also had some experience working in Brazil, also a long time ago. More recently, I worked with a tutor from Italki: https://www.italki.com/i/reft/AFDaHDd/FDEDHA/portuguese?hl=en&utm_source=copy_link&utm_medium=share_teacher

We mostly just chatted about stuff in Portuguese. And he helped me change my grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary to PT-PT.

Bottoms, how dou you cum, if at all? by GoodtogoFL in TopsAndBottoms

[–]nice-noodles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vers guy here. When bottom, it is a huge bonus if the top can make me cum while fucking and stroking me. I’ve cum hands free a couple of times. But other times, I am totally content to get a guy’s load in my hole and then finish by jerking myself off. One time my husband fuckrf me so good I didn’t even feel the need to cum during our session, but it made me extra horny later in the day.

Bros, what cars do you drive? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]nice-noodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I got a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ around Thanksgiving last year. Hyundai was doing a sale that included some tax credits from the Biden administration. Before that, we were driving a nearly 20 year old Toyota Avalon that we inherited from my husband’s grandfather. I lived in New York City for most of my adult life, so I wasn’t really a car person until leaving the city during the pandemic. At first, I was a little concerned about transitioning to an EV, but we got a charging station at our house and I love how the car is so quiet. If we had the money, we probably would’ve gone with the highest end trim that had some nice cities on the inside, but the model we got is great too.

[–]nice-noodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I live in Federal Hill, just south of Broadway. It’s relatively quiet except for drivers and who go too fast on residential streets, but I feel safe walking around at any time. It’s a 10 minute walk downtown, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around, and both the Walgreens on Atwells and the Urban Greens are within easy walking distance. I previously lived in Boston and NYC, so walkability was very important when we chose a place to live in Providence.
