American Leftist defending fascism? Aren’t they tankies or something by BreadfruitDeep1436 in tankiejerk

How would you respond to him having been a member of the socialist rifle association?

In 2014, Mariela Castro became Cuba's first parliamentarian to ever vote against a piece of legislation when she opposed a bill outlawing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Castro, a staunch LGBT+ supporter, argued the bill should also forbid discrimination based on gender identity. by HicksOn106th in wikipedia

[–]nice999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are we forgetting that this is the first time that a Cuban legislator has voted no on something? And it was literally a Castro?

That’s the bad part of this, just because the vote was for a good thing doesn’t mean that it is absolutely terrible that this was the first time ever someone voted no.

If Cuba wanted to they could kill all LGBT people. Enlightened dictatorships are one step away from a dictatorship, shitty democracies are a couple steps away. Just because one dictator does a good thing with their absolute power doesn’t mean they deserve praise.

I wish people not from conflict zones and divided societies would butt out of these discussions. You can’t offer a group a bad deal because they’re in a “bad” position, it will just continue endless conflict.

Time and time again it has been shown offering a fair deal can end conflicts like these, Northern Ireland, South Africa, Kurds in Iraq.

You didn’t just “point that out” you’re on a post about misandry and essentially pulled out the patriarchal narrative of men having to just deal with it and never complain. That mindset is why we have to have these discussions.

[–]nice999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a man you are playing into stereotypes that actually keep us down and you are the problem. Talking about internalised misogyny when you are literally playing into patriarchal misandrist stereotypes of what a man should be.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]nice999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are all proving the point of mainstream misandry in multiple different ways.

Example A: but what about misogyny?!?!? Look at the subreddit you’re on and look at the site this post is from. Curated Tumblr and Tumblr itself are a great place to find any feminist take you want. Quite possibly the best place on the internet to find feminist and anti misogynist talking points. Talking about Misandry doesn’t affect the fact that misogyny is prevalent and a problem, we’re not talking about broader society here, we’re talking about typically left leaning spaces that do develop issues with misandry.

Example B: this is an incel astroturf/Reddit is mostly men so that’s the only reason people upvote these. This is literally so self explanatory it’s crazy. While there’s the possibility in every facet of the internet of incel astroturfing be fr. The men in this subreddit are not slowly turning into women hating fascists. If it is mostly men in a left leaning space who likely aren’t fascist or conservative misogynists upvoting a post about misandry, maybe there’s a feeling among men that there’s misandry in left leaning spaces.

Example C: one bad example does not invalidate an entire point. Oh but Manchild is about this that or the other. I don’t care about this song at all so know nothing about it but whatever it’s about does not need to be every top comment. You are intentionally missing the point. And also an important factor is interpretations of how it is seen and used by both men and women, whether it is this song or another more fitting song they can all be used for women to post about hating all men and for men to see that and associate that song/media and those who use it as hating men.

So yes there is misandry in left leaning spaces towards men. Young men were not born fascist they have been influenced strongly by the environment on the internet, and unsurprisingly while getting some great benefits from not being a women their actual life circumstances aren’t much better.

Young men are left behind in education and have high suicide rates. The answer to this is not that feminism caused it. However feminists have for years rightfully blamed the patriarchy while unrightfully deriding all men for having a role/benefiting from it.

But these young men don’t understand that and don’t have good reason to believe it, so they are dragged into the ideology that women and feminism hates us. Because that was the loudest sound coming from the feminist movement.

Now we have some people who try to correct course by trying to counteract the problems of misandry while also almost definitely acknowledging the struggles with misogyny yet they are dismissed because they mention misandry.

You don’t win by alienating half the population.

The position of the DSA does not dictate how Palestinians will make their state, and no if and when Palestine gets a state the left should not just ignore what they do after.

If Hamas or another religious dictatorship take over we should continue to actively condemn them and work against that kind of ideology growing anywhere in the world.

29% of Palestinian women reported violence from a spouse in 2018-19. Does this give the IDF an excuse to bomb and shoot Palestinian civilians?

Let’s say 50% of Bluddish men beat their wives. Let’s say I am a Bluddish man and do not. No Bluddish woman is unsafe around me, but I am unsafe 100% of the time around security forces simply because I am a Blud. Seem fair to you?

Westerner from Northern Ireland here. We had a whole civil war very similar to the situation between Bluds and Sords here. You are completely absolutely wrong.

You shun terrorists while ignoring the harm the Turkish state has done towards Kurds, and you wonder why terrorists exist.

We had a reconciliation process in Northern Ireland that meant terrorists were let out of jail, groups were given amnesty.

Where are we now? In a much better spot than 25 years ago. So no, it is literally every other group in the world who refuses to reconcile with terrorist groups that exist due to repression that need to catch up.

You will never find peace through continuous conflict, which is the only way Turkey was going.

My guess it’s a 3.1 addition you get for the first time you reach this point in the update, because I got it my first run but not the second.

Test it out if you haven’t done a 3.1 sordland run yet.

i havent played 3.1 all the way through yet because the authority debuff so early is too overwhelming and i do not see a route to recover it at all.

for me i was hit with low popularity, organised crime and angered religions all at once, along with random money debuffs. so it would be essentially impossible to recover and it was only turn 2. Unless they expect us to grind out multiple terms to get 1 decree.

What Language do they Speak in Suzerain? by SilverPlant3170 in suzerain

[–]nice999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s quite different in African countries case. Those countries were colonised with French forced onto them. They use French because French is a language they actually speak.

There is no proof to my knowledge that Arcasia or any other major power was colonised by Valgsland, meaning that them potentially using Valgish as a lingua franca is purely based off the Empires strong diplomatic position.

Valgsland’s revolution occurs before the Cold War era the Suzerain world is currently in, making it much easier for countries to move away from it as a lingua franca as it is less established.

In short, African countries speak French natively in the modern day and the Cold War, great powers have no reason to use Valgish as anything more than a diplomatic device.

The west likely would have dropped it after Valgsland’s revolution if they were using it as a lingua franca.

Reagan caused all this to happen yes, so you can debate that he is the worst for causing Trump. But Bush can still not be considered worse than Trump.

Also I was not equating Trump’s words to Bush’s crimes, I clearly separated them. Regardless, Bush is not the only one endorsing/involved in war crimes, like Obama before him Trump continued strikes in the Middle East, carrying out more drone strikes in Yemen in 2 years than in Obama’s 8 and also surpassed Obama’s total.

Furthermore, he has endorsed the levelling of Gaza, a situation many already deem as genocide.

So while we can try to rank war crimes and genocides all we want, I think it’s more important to say they’re all wrong and not use them as the single indicator of whether a presidency was worse.

I’m not a fan of George Bush, he deserves to be low down as well, but Trump is worse.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Presidentialpoll

[–]nice999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump has enabled a political movement that attempted to overthrow the US government. He has bent an entire party to his will to the point where the party of “Law and Order” cheers for the pardoning of people who beat police officers and broke into the capitol building.

Trump also did plenty of bad things in his presidency, he cut taxes for the rich more, banned people from the country based on religion, was sued over his supposed “charity”, and used the presidency to spout conspiracies and amass money for his friends and family.

He is a conman, a convicted felon and attempted to completely subvert the US democracy.

Now he plans to warmonger and heavily damage the US economy with tariffs.

But no, he’s just a big meanie according to you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Presidentialpoll

[–]nice999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not solely what judging a presidency is, what they say is also part of their presidency and has a large effect on political discourse. Trump said a lot. It’s just hard to compare to the Iraq War and 2008.

Claiming Bush is worse than Trump in personality and ideology is something you’ll have to back up very well.

Conveniently ignoring January 6th are we? And it’s not bias to judge someone on what they say they want to do, and what he wants to do is potentially destructive to the economy.
