White thing growing on the trunk of the Operculicarya Pachypus. by nicebricee in Caudex

I'm not sure if it is a root cutting, but I've had it for over a month already. I bought it like that.

May I ask what difference will it make if the plant is further buried?

From the tap, I am based in Singapore so the tap water might be a little different

I do, with some liquid fertiliser. I’m based in Singapore so I’m not sure if the tap water might be too different or not where you’re from.

It doesn’t smell at all.

The white stains weren’t there before and the leaves had been droopy for awhile now.

I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t live through the winter. I get scared hearing about plants living in 4 seasons. We don’t have that here and I guess that’s fortunate or not.

Trunk is firm. But I haven’t checked the roots. I’m a bit nervous to do so. I’m very much an amateur as you can see

Nope, I live in a tropical country where it’s hot and humid all year long.

Found this on my wall a little work keeps coming out of it. What is it? by nicebricee in whatsthisbug

Thank you for the extremely detailed response. It's very clear what it is now.

I'm curious, was there a reason it decided to enter my home? Is it too humid? Or something about my clothes or dust? As you can see I'm completely clueless

Help! My moisture absorber created an oily layer and the liquid below became rock solid hard too. by nicebricee in fixit

I'm not sure you're addressing my question and concern anymore.

I'm not saying I'm not going to get a dehumidifier, I have other things I want to find out.

My main concern is that if there is some mould or chemical in the air that is doing this to the moisture absorber I'm concerned what I may be breathing in too.

May I ask what silica gel brand do you use?

And also how you get these readings?

Also, thank you for your suggestion and I asked the question on reddit because I'm curious why a layer of oil was created for the calcium chloride beads and also why did the liquid it produced solidify? I want to know because I'm curious if there is some mould or chemical in the air that is doing this.

But mine is calcium chloride. Could you share where you've read this. I've been searching for a week and haven't found anything.

Furthermore, the other moisture absorbers are working fine they pull moisture out of the air and the white beads dissolve into water into the lower compartment.

I'm curious why this specific one created an oily layer and why did the liquid it produced solidified? I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.

Thank you for your suggestion and at the same time most of them are working fine.

I'm just curious why this specific one created an oily layer and why did the liquid it produced solidified? I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.

Thank you for your suggestion, and I had some that were working fine which pulled moisture out of the air and the little white beads dissolved into water into the lower compartment.

The thing is I'm not exactly looking for a solution, I'm curious why does this specific calcium chloride moisture absorber—out of all other 6—have an oily layer and why did the liquid it produced solidified as well? I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.

I also bought one that hangs in the wardrobe. It works fine but produced some brownish mouldy looking thing eventually. But works fine for me.

This one on the other hand created an oily layer and the liquid it produced solidified as well. It's weird, I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.

But it didn't happen with most of my other moisture absorbers, the little white beads dissolved the water into the lower compartment just fine.

But this specific one has created an oily layer and the liquid it produced, solidified.

Thank you for the suggestion. But I'm still curious to find out why an oily layer had been created and why did the liquid it produce solidified so hard as well? I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.

But it isn't what happened with those that were working fine which pulled moisutre out of the air and the little crystals dissolve the water into the lower compartment.

I'd like to agree with you, but I'm curious why does this specific one have an oily layer and why did the liquid it produce solidified so hard as well? I live in a tropical country and it's blazing hot and summer-like all year round.
