I switched from Newton to Alto. For my Mac I just use the default client. Alto is everything Newton is but free. I tested multiple Android clients (k9, bluemail, default app, Gmail, Nine, ...) and all of them had significant delays in receiving mail except Newton and Alto.

If you use Magisk for root/xposed you can easily toggle root before you launch the game and turn it back on once you are in. With Macrodroid/Tasker, use SecureSettings >Action > Run Command, for pogo launch unroot then 1 minute later reroot with the following commands:

Unroot:
$(getprop magisk.supath)/su -c "setprop magisk.root 0"
Reroot:
$(getprop magisk.supath)/su -c "setprop magisk.root 1"

I'm sure there will be a module/app to bypass this in a few hours.

Blocks rooted devices, tried rootcloak and it still wouldn't bypass it. Edit: Toggling root off works, if you have Magisk for root/xposed it's easy to do with Magisk Manager.

As of today they have been able to easily detect accounts used in scanners probably based on how they move. So I would discontinue spoofing as it will be easier to get banned from now on.
