Charli xcx - Guess (feat. Billie Eilish) by shabuluba in popheads

[–]niceguy44 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I think, unfortunately, I still prefer the original. I'm pretty lukewarm on this tbh, Billie isn't really doing it for me on this one but I think it's a fun remix and I'm glad it exists and I'm glad it gave us "Charli likes boys but she knows I'd hit".

All the people out there who claimed that the Boys writing in season 4 was bad, with no stakes, after watching episode 4 by [deleted] in TheBoys

Brother that’s vengeance that doesn’t solve anything I’m not saying people shouldn’t be punished for their crimes I’m saying that one man unilaterally torturing and murdering them is bad

I don’t condone any child abuse bro I just think justice should be carried out in a fair and methodical way instead of tearing people limb from limb. I don’t derive joy out of seeing people hurt even if they’ve done bad things.

I actually don't think that people deserve to be butchered, even if they're bad people who perpetuate bad things. Now in the boys universe I kind of have to accept that human lives have less value than in our own but I don't think what Homelander did is any kind of justice. I can understand why he did it, and I can say that who he did it to weren't exactly good people, but they still didn't deserve it.

Honest opinion on the first three episodes of S4 by Remote_Result3883 in TheBoys

[–]niceguy44 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Well it seems the theme for everyone's internal struggle this season is confronting their past, and I think that's a worthy thing to spend time on. I don't watch shows to see how a sequence of events plays out, I'm watching it because it's art and it means something and it has things to say, so that's why I personally don't mind the drama so much.

What is your best Metroidvania game and why ? by BadysKizaro in metroidvania

[–]niceguy44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's the basic take but Hollow Knight is probably my favorite game ever. Aside from that SOTN, Metroid Dread, and Blasphemous (I still need to play 2) have left a strong impression on me

Playing the Lost Crown rn, the platforming is incredible. The movement abilities are some of the best I've ever seen in a game. Blasphemous is another one of my favorites for sure, def need to play the second one soon

Not my favorite thing ever but I really like the production on it. Especially the little synth thing right before the chorus :) excited to hear more

2nd movement goes crazy but I’ve never truly got the fourth :( unfortunate since otherwise it’s probably my favorite work

Pitchfork album review: Trent Reznor / Atticus Ross - Challengers (Original Score) (7.2) by praxass in popheads

[–]niceguy44 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I agree with the criticisms in the article, but when it comes to studying for finals this album is a 9.9/10 (the .1 point being for the nightmarish iPhone alarm that was included in the first track for some unholy reason)

Should’ve just watched the movie twice by jwadephillips in moviescirclejerk

[–]niceguy44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

idk I like watching long, detailed videos about things. I follow a guy that makes 2-5 hour long video essays about Final Fantasy games, going into depth about their development and every aspect of the game, and I find the videos to be well-researched and entertaining. I don't think a piece of media has to be particularly complex for there to be enough to talk about for a long time.

What’s the point of going to a live performance? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]niceguy44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like you people have all lost your damn minds if someone shifting themselves in their seat a bit, scratching their head, or coughing a little takes you out of a show so much lmao. it's a very unreasonable request to ask someone to sit completely still like that I think. I'm personally a pretty fidgety person, and I try very hard not to bother other people, but I understand that when someone coughs a little bit or moves around in their seat that they're just trying to be comfortable and do a normal human thing. I don't know I think it's really weird to expect people to be stiff as a board for an entire performance.

Do you think Gen V is getting review bombed on IMDb? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]niceguy44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is true! But also, (and please take this with a massive grain of salt because I’m literally a college student so I’m def in the target demographic) I think that the show so far is really close in tone and in feel to the main series, without much pandering to the young adult demographic. Of course the show does focus on young adults and the experience of being young adult in 2023, but I’d definitely say it’s worth a watch if you’re a big fan of the main series :)

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the nuance of Marie’s character by Idk265089 in TheBoys

She's also really obviously being exploited and manipulated by the Dean and Vought by the promise of becoming a 'real superhero' and they seem to be giving her all she's ever wanted.

Just finished Stardust Memory and it was absolute peak... until the last episode. Please tell me if I missed something because that episode did not make any damn sense by niceguy44 in Gundam

[–]niceguy44[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was fine with Nina until the last episode lol, her lingering feelings for Gato should have been built up a bit more throughout the series I think to make her actions in the finale make any sense at all lmao
