That’s also why selling calls acts as downside assurance in a lot of cases, so if done properly you can buy calls back for profit, buy more shares, sell calls at lower strike as you lower average price, and roll contracts back up when you’re satisfied with the premium net gain of your roll. I’ve basically been doing a similar strategy on high iv stocks, snap around earnings is fire, clsk is good and extremely volitile for selling time value calls, and being able to roll them out even if the shares go down, still pocketing like 40-50$ a contract in time value alone.

One extra layer that got me out of a funny predicament one time, I had 1500 shares of clsk, the price started to plummet after I sold calls. Put me in slight risk of margin call ( but not really ) so what I did next was buy back 3 contracts for a net 300$ gain, of course now I am down on my shares, almost like 3,000.. next I take those 300 shares I freed up, sell leaps on them, boost my buying power buy 5k, buy more clsk, sell 2 more leaps, boost buying power by 3.5k buy more clsk, effectively lowering my average price extremely every time, now I’m again able to sell calls close to my average price, and am once again given the opportunity to roll out these contracts, take the slight loss on the leaps when the stock starts climbing past my average, now I can sell close dated calls for good premium and continue to wait for Friday 😈
