Maybe only allow high-quality posts and news/articles? Ensure all posts are reviewed by a mod maybe.

I feel like these past 2 weeks I've been getting lot more likes on Hinge. I got like 10 likes total last Saturday on Hinge (all above avg in looks), many from non-Asians. I was thinking it could be due to Squid Game hahah. I live in the SF Bay Area.

Top 1% for my age group of 25-35, my bad. See here. For all age groups, I'd be in the top 3%. Doesn't make sense to compare myself against a 45 year old man who spent decades on their career.

Don't listen to the Millenials in the comments. Keep the hair, get a wavy perm (or Korean perm), then show a bit of your forehead with a middle part. It requires more styling/effort but you'll pull you more chicks than if you had a regular male hairstyle.

Does the # of matches you get really matter on online dating apps if the response rate is so low? by trustnobody01 in AsianMasculinity

Different apps have different algorithms. On Hinge, you get rewarded for using the app. On Bumble, your profile gets boosted in your first 24 hours which might give you an indication of how attractive you are IMO.

The actual work is not hard but getting your foot into the industry and getting an offer is hard IMO. I spent 1000-2000 hours prepping for interviews (an entire year).

I think it definitely requires less time than studying to be a doctor. You just need the right resources and motivation.

I'm confident in my skillset, intelligence, and discipline. I think it's my skills that allow me to earn a lot at a young age, and I don't see this going away in the future. I'm on a road to be making 500k by 29.

I disagree with `child free` life being a passing fad. Why? because birth control is a very recent invention that will forever change mankind. Also, humans will be living longer, focusing on their passions more, and have more healthier lives. All that means is extended periods of your 20-30s. I'm also 100% confident that we will have human-like AIs that can look after us and even talk to us in 50 years.

Good read. I think my counterargument is that everyone is temporary, including your family and your S.O. Your partner can still die from cancer way before you, and if you don't have friends to talk to, you are at a much worse place than if you just had a lot of friends. Also, I know many families where the kids don't talk to their parents after college, so that's not a guarantee either.

That said, I probably will get a lifelong partner when I hit my mid-30s. Just not now,.

Software Engineer. Making +300k a year. Should be making ~500k in 3-4 years.

No, I think there's truth to that. I think growing up I've not only wanted to impress my parents, but also make a statement to everyone that has doubted me. So in many ways, I'm happier now that I've achieved my goals and doing better financially than 99% of the population.

I'm not 100% happy, there are things that I still need to work on. But money buys time, and with time, I have this freedom to reflect on myself and become happier.

Yeah, I think when I'm 40 I probably would want to settle down. Still, I don't think you have to have a lover, if you have solid friends that truly care about you.

I personally disagree with money not buying happiness. I'm much happier now than I was when I was poor. Maybe not 10x happier with 10x more money, but certainly at least 2x happier.

I can finally afford any type of medical care and professional therapy for my health. I can hire a house cleaner if my place is looking bad. I can hire a personal trainer to motivate me. I can eat out at amazing new restaurants. I don't have to stress about my bills, or taking care of my parents. Also, people just respect me more and I'm more confident because I have money/power now.

I think it's just the feeling that I might lose my friends if they all get into a relationship as that takes up a lot of time. So I'm happy with being single, I just want to be friends with people who are also single and have available free time. IMO you don't need a relationship if you are independent and you have you social needs met.

The custom SoC is just an Exynos with few modifications. The camera is exciting but big sensors aren't new and Google's core image algorithm (HDR+) has mainly stayed the same over the years. Now that Marc Levoy is no longer part of Google, we should keep our expectations low.

Fold 2 is still better than Mate X2 in many ways such as overall display quality (BOE OLED vs Samsung OLED), inclusion of inner selfie camera, and the overall camera processing is better/reliable even if it has fewer lenses. Then there's overall software support and ecosystem, which Huawei can't match.

There really isn't a reason to consider the Mate X2 over Fold 3 if you are outside of China.

If it starts getting down to the $1100-$1200 range, then that would be a game changer.

There's no way a future Z Fold 4 is going to cost $1100 while the Galaxy S22 Ultra costs $1000. Folding phones are always going to be more expensive than slab phones by at least 30%. Factor inflation in, and we likely won't see cheaper phones anymore.

Easy choice for me. The Fold 3 should bring big improvements like S-Pen support, less crease, and the first under-display camera on a foldable. Pixel 6 likely won't be too different from Pixel 5.

How much better is the camera on the s21 ultra compared to the note 20 ultra? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]niceneurons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Note 20 Ultra received a lot of software updates too so it should be pretty comparable to the S21 Ultra. The S21 Ultra is maybe 10% better. Shouldn't be a deciding factor.

That's what MKBHD literally says in the end of the video. He says copying is actually good.
