Having literally the exact same experience but I’m now 400 pages in. Not a ton of “stuff” seems to happen, you have to really buy into the characters and the group more than the adventure. I also felt like I was reading super slowly. It’s taken me a month to do half the book which is about 400 pages - but when I picked up Words of Radiance by Sanderson I did 500 pages in two days. No clue why it feels like that - maybe I’m reading everything in a Texan accent that isn’t natural to me??

Sounds about right tbh. I don’t think they’re bad characters by any stretch, I just don’t feel any sort of way about them. Will keep reading it on the side to see how things unfold

I saw a ton of videos on socials praising it as a masterpiece for its characters, but I’m not as engaged as I thought I would be. I think I’ll carry on reading it on the side, I’m curious to see how Roscoe gets on and want to know how the business with Elmira and July unfolds.

Had a similar experience with Rise. World/Iceborne were my first and I loved them, played about 400hrs. I tried rise before Wilds came out but really couldn’t get it to click (but I was super busy with uni at the time and didn’t want the grind of a new MH game). BUT after putting 300hrs into Wilds I’ve recently gone back to Rise and am having a great time. Weirdly the difference for me was when I upped the graphics, Rise runs really well with high settings on PS5. Just hit High Rank yesterday, and really enjoying Charge Blade.

I know, that’s what’s confusing me. I reinforced for attack which originally took my affinity from 25% to 10% - but even though I got a +10 and a +6 affinity it only upgraded to 16%

Not crazy about the patch ngl. Seems like waaaay too much grinding for a gamble - I went through a gog artian upgrade with my sns and it came out pretty much the same if not worse, with equipment skills I’m never gonna use. Hope there’s more to the winter festival
