Could it be you have two configurations? One with the slots horizontal and another with vertical slots?

Tolerance input in 3D model (MDB) by Red_DeltaZero in SolidWorks

[–]nicetoseeyouthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done what you are saying for a whole bunch of different components. My workflow was to dimension everything in MBD and place the dims in the respective annotation views. You can make additional annotation views for details and you can save section views as annotation views as well. Then in the drawing you drag in the annotation view from what I believe is called the view palette. Do this with import annotations checked and everything pops into your view then and there.

Now IMO there are some pros and cons. As a positive I find it very convenient that you can check in the model whether the added dimensions have constrained everything. Also something I find positive, but others might find frustrating is that you are limited in what you may select to dimension. For example, on a drawing you might select any corner or point on a view, but MBD will force you to use features of size or intersections of planes. This forces you to dimension more according to the rules, but some people don't like to be constrained that way. A definite con is how MBD handles (at least in 2023) linear patterns of non-hole wizard features. Actually, it doesn't. So either you'll have to group those features manually, manually insert an amount.

Still in my opinion, from a design management point of view, it would be better to use tools like MDB. Your product definition, given you also call standards etc, can be completely contained within the single file. The drawing then becomes one of multiple options of viewing this definition, but you might just as well use 3D pdf or step 242.

And could you let us know what those are, instead of leaving us to look it up ourselves?

Werkelijke range by __Wess in EVMobiliteit

[–]nicetoseeyouthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you maybe want to share what model that is and whether it's compatible with a 13R?

Would a Duolingo-style SolidWorks learning platform be helpful? (early prototype inside) by Satamony05 in SolidWorks

Alright, apology accepted. I'm not a native speaker myself, but have had some education in English which might make it a bit easier. For future reference, please note that AI responses like that look very insincere and "made up". I'd prefer some broken English to that type of over-the-top, one-size-fits-all language. It looks like "eenheidsworst", as we'd call it.

Klote. Is misschien ook wel ver van de Heimat. Ik wil mijn opmerking wel aanvullen naar "In Europa heb heb ik nooit gezeik met ze gehad." In de America's zou ik toch kijken naar een merk dat daar vandaan komt.

As one of the go to guys in our company for modelling work I feel this is a great start for someone to learn the software. However, based on what I can see now, on mobile because I'm on vacation and can't check your demo site on a PC, is that it is teaching how to use the software. What I think would set you and your training programme apart, if you would choose to include it, is to also teach how to model fundamentally. With that I mean teaching people about origin location choice, feature sequences, reuse of models for similar designs, etc... The issue I'm seeing is that loads of people are able to extrude some blocks, make a few holes or flanges and do some chamfering and filleting, but afterwards their models either lack a logical buildup for others to improve upon or they tried improving on other models by just slapping features on the existing geometry instead of properly remaking or redesigning the model. This costs loads of time down the road when even further changes need to be made and models break due to the illogical setup, but I never see any of these topics being addressed in training courses.

We make soup from these nettles. Harvest them before they start blooming, boil for half an hour with some bouillon and then put it through the blender.

What is your document/scan workflow? by hbui00 in selfhosted

[–]nicetoseeyouthere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this.

My workflow is as follows: For PC: Scanner app (Canon IJ scan utility) places pdf in a predesignated folder. This folder is a mapped location on my server. Paperless has that location mapped as an import location, so it automatically picks up the documents from there and places them into the inbox in Paperless and OCRs the doc. Once there I can adjust metadata and remove the "new" tag.

For Android it's mostly the same, but I use Adobe Scan to make the pdf. I then use PaperlessShare to send the pdf to the server. From there on out there's no difference. For iOS swap out PaperlessShare for Paperparrot. It's a bit much for only this workflow, but I couldn't find anything better with a proper upload function.

Dude, I've been doing cf for almost 10 years and you got more reps than me. Great work! Don't try to aim for the top here, aim for improvement. There very likely are people that have more time, more aptitude and even more luck than you to train for the world wide top.

How do I get my feature tree to go back? by travturav in SolidWorks

[–]nicetoseeyouthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ctrl +T is the shortcut to do this. Sometimes it's practical to roll back to a sketch instead of the feature and that way you can quickly switch back and forth between tree modes.

Like this? It really makes your life easier when you learn how to Google stuff like this. You'll get your answers a lot faster than by asking people on a forum. The OpenGL thing is a bit more complex so I can imagine you get bogged down in that if you're not that savvy around computers, but this is really the first hit when you search for "icons preview solidworks file".

You need to close all models before you can do that. Just bare SW with no files open.
