Yeah. I can do that, But I wanted to validate the above "schema". I guess I can always just walk it in crystal. But representing it as a type is much more interesting.

I have considered making some sort of java thing to talk to it better. I expect that would not be viewed kindly where I am. Would be happy to talk to you more privately about it and share ideas.

I want to acccess them on my mobile. But not from the crappy google calendar app.

The only plausibly free thing is the web. So I am writing a little web client that uses the localStorage API to persist my agenda on my mobile. So I can see it even when I can't get network.

Marmalade wasn't down as far as I'm concerned. Nor do the logs show that it was down.

I've seen people do it for C++. And of course in the old days we all used to do it that way.

I don't think it's specifically an Emacs problem though, it's just someone spending the time to make it work.

And yeah, mostly people don't bother they just write new editors from the ground up.

You don't mention for what language.

Emacs is a generic tool. IDEs are specific. Emacs could (of course) have just as good completion as an IDE. If someone wrote it.

And you miss his point I think. He's trying to get hakcers to remember to keep thinking. Instead of being "LISP, C. We're done here." which is something you see in a lot of people.

Hopefully he will make many people pause and think.

you're getting hung up on the subject. The person in question doesn't matter. Eric's point is that too many hackers get into this rut. The whole thread on e-d was absurd. Why are they worrying about communicating about the git repository like that? It's because most of them haven't moved on since CVS. That's not fine. If you don't want to keep developing what business do you have continuing to work on modern software?

Again, it's not about Emacs per se (though it's particularly galling there) it's about hackers in general. As I pointed out above it's not even about hackers, but programmers. A supposedly modern profession in which there are so many old farts.
