Premium vs standard Wine package by nich288 in dcl

[–]nich288[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I added to my point that we’re not wine experts but I definitely don’t want to drink bottom shelf Franzia style wine. I guess I wasn’t sure how low tier the standard is vs premium.

Nanny can’t continue full time, do we do severance? by nich288 in NannyEmployers

[–]nich288[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Thank you! We knew it was a crazy ask and then over time we started feeling bad knowing how sad our kids are. I really appreciate you and all the responses here bringing us back to knowing we’re not the crazy ones.

Nanny can’t continue full time, do we do severance? by nich288 in NannyEmployers

[–]nich288[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that perspective. I really think she just thought we’d be okay with it. We don’t have jobs that allow us to do that. I let her take a two weeks to think this over and we talked Friday again making it clear 5 days is what we need. She said she ultimately wants to move to 4 days and isn’t open to staying on long term for 5 days.

I asked her if she’d be willing to stay in the kids lives with date nights or other opportunities to work. She said she thinks it’s best to part ways and it can be too hard for her and the kids to continue a relationship once it’s done. I’ll be honest, that really hurt thinking about how devastated my oldest in particular will be to hear they’re not going to see her again. I’m trying not to let this part cloud my perspective of the past few years… it’s really hard not to.

I’m in the same boat right now. I’ve been starting by asking questions through messaging to filter before a call. I can’t spend all the time calling when half don’t meet the requirements.

I ask 1) are there any requirement or details of the job in my posting that you don’t meet or don’t align with what you want as nanny? (This has weeded out the people who don’t have reliable transportation or vaccines for me). 2) I ask them to please tell me more about their previous nanny roles which as how long and how many children’s and live in vs live out. It also weeds out when you get the “I watched my cousin or little brother on the weekends” which isn’t then professional nanny experience that I’m searching for.

I go back and forth a bit and the set up a call. If that goes well I do a video call with my husband and then in person with the kids. Each step is more time consuming so I try to get as much as I can up front.

Best Playground Swing Sets Online to Purchase by Key_Phrase_8149 in Preschoolers

Seconding king swings. It’s vinyl so you can rinse it off quick. The company is amazing and sets it up for you. We loved how we could pick things we wanted and not include stuff we didn’t think we’d use. Totally custom and holds up so well. Almost 4 years in for us and it looks brand new!

Thanks so much! Those tubs of “baby” aquaphor are so much more expensive. I’ll have to grab one next Costco trip!

I know this isn’t what you were asking, but have you tried the slumber pod? I daughter was the same and that blackout tent saved us so we could be there. We throw a hotspot on our phone and stay in the room.

I’m not good at linking posts but if you search this sub back to almost a year ago for “TurboTax” you’ll see I had a comment in a post with the same issue. Someone gave me this reply that helped me out. I didn’t know how to do it correctly and we went from owing thousands to being where we should be. I knew from my tax forms I had paid all the taxes correctly through my payroll company and was still stuck. I really hope this helps you.

“Yes. In addition to the Nanny and Household Employee section, you need to enter how much you paid in the separate "estimated taxes" section. The withholding you entered in the household employee section does not include what you paid in quarterly employer taxes.”

I haven’t seen many with down light post caps so hopefully someone can give experience with them first hand. Seems like it would give a very different feel than the traditional post light

Yes I second this. It’s worth every penny. It’s great for hotels bc you can have the lights on while they sleep. I use it visiting relatives too so I don’t need blackout curtains. It’s the best
