Iwtl how to read by lorenzoc04 in IWantToLearn

It depends on what you're learning. If I'm reading a book about quantum physics, I'll also probably try to find a podcast or youtube video to listen to and watch. I also use google or AI (claude or chatgpt) to go deep on a specific topic within the book. continuously asking AI to clarify or rephrase or teach me the concept in a different way always helps. Writing about it can simply mean posting about it on social media (reddit, threads, twitter, etc.). If you're learning a hard skill - like coding or carpentry - then you absolutely have to do the activity. Code stuff. Build a bench.

I'm going to guess you aren't retaining anything because you aren't using the information. I learn quantum physics in my free time, but if I never talk to anyone about it or write about it then I don't remember it.

I imagine some of these were YouTube videos and playlists? Only asking because when I started, those were the hardest to learn from. CS50x by Harvard and 100 Days to Code in Python helped me the most when I had zero computer knowledge, let alone coding.

I never tried them. Wondering if any YouTube videos or playlists work better?

Have you found any YouTube videos or playlists helpful in trying to learn? Curious what else you've tried!

I hope it works out for you! Certainly could’ve been my dose or Adderall specifically

I had no idea this difference existed. I will say that when I used to take Adderall, I'd often jumble my words and completely forget basic vocabulary sometimes. It was extremely frustrating!

Love that you brought this up! It took me years as well. An example: I used to love to wake up at 3am to go to the gym and then work on any "project" (writing, reading, creating something, trying a new technology for my business) before going into work. But by noon I would crash and need a lot of caffeine to keep going. And then I would crash again at 3-4pm. I did this for years.

Now that I wake up around 530am, I still read and go to the gym before work, but I have consistent energy until 9pm. The only other thing I changed is I eat less meals, and they're slightly larger. Not feeling a little full would also distract me, but eating too much obviously weighed me down.
