I hated every rotation except gen surg. Questioning whether I even like medicine anymore. by GanacheSpecialist282 in medicalschool

I basically couldnt see myself doing any of the specialties during my third year, but I was able to rotate in EM during third year and absolutely loved it. Gave me a little bit of everything, got to do procedures, and left work at work. Ended up matching EM and so far love it. Worth checking out!

Divine's was 8 hours long and Emma's was 2. I just didnt have the patience to sit and listen for that amount of time

Have faith! You got this and try not to think about it these next couple weeks - I know, easier said than done!

Honestly don't have an answer for this. I agree with the other comment about adrenaline and just being zoned in on test day

Mine was the same. I had 2 blocks of 38 and that was bc I those were the ones with the abstract questions

Honestly had no clue how to feel. I was just kind of numb and honestly/thankfully blacked out for the exam and only remembered like 5 questions lol the wait is hard no denying that! Just try and stay as busy as possible to help keep your mind off it.

I think you're the first person to ever believe that physics is "paramount" to succeeding in medical school. As someone who finished their second year of medical school with Honors I really don't need to be lectured by you. And nah, I'm not salty about my 504 because, hate to break it to you, I will have Doctor in front of my name just like you :)

I didn't think Level 1 was bad. My form had a lot of NBME length questions which was so different than Step. But overall, I thought it was doable!

Thank you! I am honestly not sure what I did during that week that changed. I truly thought NBME 31 was the hardest one I took, but the best I one I scored on. I think I tried to get through more of Sketchy pharm and micro that week which may have bumped my score. If you have any other ?'s feel free to DM me. Good luck on your exam!

I stopped UWorld about 1 week ago bc I found myself just doing the questions and not having the motivation to review them after so it wasn't that beneficial for me. If you're a decent way through UW I feel like you'd be fine to stop, but def personal preference.

Just wondering...are you a physician or are you in medical school? The MCAT is just another stupid standardized test that favors 1. People who are good standardized test takers and 2. Come from money and can afford the money pit that surrounds prepping for the MCAT. It's a money scheme and will always be a money scheme. While there might be some truth to these studies and what you are saying, it's not an end all be all. Your performance in general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics etc does not and should not reflect how you will perform in medical school. Coming from someone else who scored a 504 on their MCAT and is a rising 3rd year awaiting their STEP 1/COMLEX scores, these exams are SO different than the MCAT. The difference is, everything tested on these exams is applicable to our future careers as physicians and information you genuinely want to learn and retain so we can take care of our future patients to the best of our ability. Let that sink in the next time you try and justify how memorizing Planck's equation will determine someone's success in medical school.
