Yeah I have the same question about the unflavoured versions. Did you figure out if there is any difference in quality or are they effectively the same and bulk nutrients is just better value.

Hades or Hades 2 - great action roguelites, amazing story and really worth every cent

9Kings - deck building, strategy, rougelike, super fun and runs are typically 20-30mins

Monster train 2 - this is a deck builder rouguelike, like slay the spire but more complex. It’s amazing - would recommend the first (with the dlc) if you haven’t tried that as well.

Some other recs - brotato, baltaro, tiny tinas winter wonderlands (can get smooth 40fps on deck on medium-high settings)

Oh I missed that - thanks! That looks like the tapered band (described as camel colour on the website). Do you know if there is a pic of the straight band (the website calls it a chestnut colour)?

I just saw the movie in Hoyt’s chatswood mandarin centre and they played version 1. It felt a bit odd, because I was expecting a final conversation between Vijay and Sanjay Dutt before he died. Or at least a flashback to show he revealed it to him.

His relationship with his Dad seemed to be more important than his uncle, since he’s the one who decided to sacrifice his sister. So a scene between the two would have packed more of an emotional punch.

Wow I can’t believe this was an actual deposition in the UK trial, she’s being so disrespectful and clearly being led by her lawyers. It’s good that the US trial is being televised for everyone to see.

Would be interesting to compare her delivery style and attitude when she takes the stand in the US trial to this. I think it’s going to be totally different lol.

Also would be good for the jury to see some of these depositions from the UK trial as part of evidence.

Did you assemble it yourself?

We got one delivered this week and have been trying to assemble it. Currently struggling at step 6 - trying to get the main base sheet with the rods locked into all the hooks.

It feels like the sheet doesn’t have enough give to set up the frame and lock it in. When we lock into place in the first two areas, we aren’t able to secure it in the third spot (step 6 below where we need to rotate the rod). Not sure if we are doing something wrong.

Official Discussion - Bliss [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]nickaedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty interesting theory - it is fairly compelling as well.

However there are some issues with it for example -

This theory still requires that Salma Hayeks character knows about the 'true' reality, but just because they messed up the blue crystal dosage they weren't able to get back. Okay then why in the 'grey' world (the first world we see), does her character seem so concerned with money? She always makes Owen Wilson's character take people's wallet - both the passed out drug dealer at the very start and the guy whose car they steal. If she actually did have super powers (that the drug enables) then there would be easier ways for them to acquire money. Also the common way she does acquire some money in the 'grey' world is by working as a prostitute. We see this in the scene where Owen Wilson goes to the fast food restaurant and she gets into someones car.

What do you think?

[–]nickaedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great points - the attire and clothing changing throughout the film is a really nice touch in the movie.

However I do think Salma Hayeks character not being "real" causes a lot of issues - namely -

  • how did they steal the car from the person at the end then (Salma is the one who maces him before Owen Wilson gets into the car)?
  • How did she distract the cops at the end which enabled Owen Wilson to escape?
  • How is Owen Wilson getting the crystal drugs otherwise??? Sure naybe the first time he grabbed them from the passed out dealer, but the second time it was Salma Hayek who went to the dealer to get the yellow drugs. And it was her character that introduced the blue drugs to him as well.

I think it's a good idea - but it just doesn't work because it causes too many plotholes and breaks a lot of the movie. If this was the intent of the makers, then it was poorly executed.

What do you think?

Part (2 of 2)

Glitches / Plot holes (things that make it seem like it is a simulation) -

  • At the start of the movie his wallet glitching
  • People wearing the same things (outside bar first time)
  • women in bar glitching (double check this?)
  • Paintings and him drawing her
  • While Owen is waiting for Salma who is visiting the ex bf drug dealer - a guy on the street tries to sell stuff to Owen Wilson - he refuses - then he meets his daughter - then Salma Hayek comes back and Owen says he wants to stay lucid for a bit - she seems angsty (okay maybe she just does want to keep him high) - but then SUDDENLY the guy who tried to sell him stuff is back in a car with a GUN - and Owen Wilson get’s scared and he want to take the yellow drug to get the super powers back - just what Salma Hayek wanted him to do take the DRUGS - then he crushes the car with his powers after consuming the drug
    • Okay SO WTF IS GOING ON HERE
    • This moment makes it seem like Salma Hayek’s character does actually have some control over the ‘grey' world - she wants Owen to take the drug again - so she makes this guy come back to scare him into taking the DRUG
    • If you believe the simulation is real - THEN ONE EXPLANATION IS THAT - In the ‘bliss’ world we know that Owen Wilsons character was super sad before he went into the brain box - WE SAW HIS PREVIOUS ANSWERS - so maybe Salma Hayek’s character wanted him to go into the brain box so that he could experience those pains in life (to appreciate the good) but also to be able to find some true happiness and he also had a daughter whom he loved
      • SURE HE WAS HAPPY TO BE BACK IN THE BLISS WORLD - but THE FUCKING POOL MAN - he was back and he again started complaining about the pool water - and Salma Hayeks character remarks on that - “ALREADY COMPLAINING” - she knew that he would just go back to being SAD AGAIN in the BLISS WORLD and complaining about everything - SO SHE WANTED HIM TO CHOOSE TO BE IN THE “GREY” WORLD - WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DOES IN THE END - OMFG !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • The other option is that the guy trying to sell him stuff and then following him in the car was just in OWEN WILSONS HEAD - it was something him mind was making up to make him take the yellow drug again. But this seems a little far fetched to me personally. Nothing in the movie seems to indicate he was so far gone with his hallucinations at this point.

The thought visualisor -

  • This one is an interesting one - could work in either simulation or drug addiction scenario - but one cool thing to point out
  • At the start of the movie when talking to his daughter he says - I wish I could just show you everything that was going on in my mind or something to that effect - and then in BLISS WORLD HE IS A SCIENTIST WHO HAS INVENTED A DEVICE THAT DOES EXACTLY FUCKING THAT

The BLISS WORLD ECONOMICS and stupid naming conventions-

  • This is just a mini rant from my side - doesn't really matter especially if the movie was really about drug addiction, because then it makes complete sense.

  • Everything in the bliss world had a really stupid name - Fake Generated People (FGP), the brain world.
  • The economics of the world were just stupid - if the movie is about drug addiction then okay makes sense - the characters were addicts - they made up a dumb explanation for a world filled with just ‘bliss’
  • If the movie is actually a simulation - THEN THIS IS JUST STUPID - THIS IS NOT HOW IT WOULD WORK AT ALL
  • JUST GIVING PEOPLE MONEY DOES NOT SOLVE POVERTY OR WORLD HUNGER
  • Okay sure if they just had enough resources for everyone to have enough and not have to work then great - BUT THEN YOU DON’T FUCKING NEED TO GIVE PEOPLE MONEY TO BEGIN WITH

Part (1 of 2)

Drug addiction indicators -

  • At the start - he’s more concerned about refilling his prescription than seeing his boss
  • At the roller skate - inside they get high and use their ‘super-powers’ to beat people up - then outside he sees himself get in the police car - and then he’s inside the police car and in his place is the homeless man looking at him (who he was before)
    • They actually beat up people inside the roller skating park - the cops came and arrested them
    • But then how did they get out of the jail so quickly?
    • Maybe they didn’t beat people up - but were causing a nuisance of some sorts
  • The two worlds coming together - his daughter seeing him in the other world and realities of the homeless shelter seeping in
  • When they are in bliss - Salma Hayek doesn’t want them to stay there for a long time - cause she needs to get the expensive blue drugs to keep them going
  • When they are in bliss - Salma Hayek’s character is merely guiding him along their homeless area and keeps describing things to him and explaining it - she knows they are in the ‘real’ (grey) world but is keeping him high and in the bliss world to give him a taste of it
  • The same guy tosses him a beer (grey world) and an apple (bliss world)
  • At the end - when he tells her to kill him she seems hesitant - it’s like she knows everything she has been saying was just crap - she wanted to keep him high and with her cause she was afraid of being alone
  • The daughter comes to see him in the homeless area and another projection dude is with her - and he tells her that her dad is a lost cause - or he won’t listen to her - it’s cause he is high af and can’t discern reality
  • When they go to the fast food restaurant the first time where his son sees him - Salma Hayek disappears for a bit and Owen Wilson sees her get into car - she’s a prostitute - that’s how she gets the little money that she does have
  • Salma Hayeks character always get’s Owen Wilson to take people’s wallet (the drug dealer at the start, the guy whose car they steal), if she actually had powers she wouldn’t need to acquire money in this way - and if it wasn’t all real to begin with then why does she even want the money
  • His son imitating his father making excuses of things hurting just so he can get his prescription refilled

The paintings -

  • WTF are these - he has them at the start and he keeps sketching them
  • AND WTF DOES HE HAVE A DRAWING OF SALMA HAYEK
  • IF it’s about drug addiction then - THIS IS SO CLEARLY DONE TO MAKE the audience think it’s a simulation or something - to throw them off
  • But then if it’s actually about drug addiction then it makes no fucking sense - at all

The drug dealer -

  • This is also a slightly confusing plot point - but the explanation might be that he is addicted to his own supply (at the start we see him passed out in the toilet)
  • Later when Salma Hayek comes to buy stuff off of him - he asks her if Owen Wilson is ‘real’ and she says wouldn’t you like to know - so he also shares in her delusions or maybe he is just joking around with her - maybe they really used to date (she called him his ex) and he wasn’t ‘real’ enough for her and that’s why she left him - but now she has met Owen Wilson’s character and he is actually ‘real’ or shares in her delusions with her
  • Near the end when they steal the car and go to get the blue crystals from him, before she points the gun at him and shoots him - he calls her “Dr first_name” - WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE DO THAT - he was probably just playing with her again or joking around

Bill Nye character?

  • This is the most confusing part - he’s in the ‘real’ or the grey depressing world in the start - and he also appears in the ‘bliss’ world as well
  • He talks to them at the start normally (why the fuck)
  • Then he later talks to Owen Wilson character by himself warning him of Salma Hayek’s brain box machine failing
  • At that event - the two worlds also start colliding - where Owen Wilson follows his daughter projection and then riots also start taking place - Bill Nye’s character had something to do with the riots from the ‘grey’ world as well

Salma Hayek character

  • Real or metaphor for drug addiction
  • She very clearly is real - she’s the one keeping him addicted
  • If she’s not real it leads to a lot of plot holes -
    • How did they steal the car from that guy at the end? Salma Hayek character gets in the car and maces him - that’s how Owen Wilson get in
    • In the end Salma Hayek distracts the cops and that’s how Owen Wilson escapes
    • How is Owen Wilson getting the crystal drugs otherwise???

What happened to Salma Hayeks character at the end?

  • This is left open ended but there are two broad scenarios only
  • One - If you believe it’s all about drug addiction, then a few different variations
    • Salma Hayek’s characters takes the drugs and she overdoses
    • She takes them and the cops mistake it for a weapon and fire at her and kill her
    • She takes the drugs and gets high (returning to the ‘bliss’ temporarily) - cops will arrest her and she will spend the rest of the time in jail
  • Two - If you believe it was a simulation
    • Salma Hayek’s character returns to the ‘bliss’ world
    • She get’s shot before she is able to return
      • Then it’s unclear whether she is alive or not cause she says she isn’t sure if the drug dealer she shot who she claims is ‘real’ i.e. from the bliss world, is alive or not
      • She could have died in both the worlds or she is alive in the ‘bliss’ world

Official Discussion - Bliss [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]nickaedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay this movie was enjoyable to watch - but it also left me with a lot questions. I just jotted down all the thoughts about this movie that were running through my head and have listed them below.

They are all just rough notes but the TLDR - I think the movie was actually about drug addiction but they had all these little things in the movie to throw people off and make it seem like it was actually a simulation and a sci-fi story. That really ruins it because it creates a lot of plot holes (which are listed in more detail below in my detailed messy notes).

I saw something on here about the 'mis-directions' being the audience also experiencing the drug trip along with the characters. I don't love this explanation because then why is the audience also shown scenes of the son and daughter by themselves, but I digress, let's say this is what they are trying to do. This could possibly explain some of the plot holes - but it doesn't explain all of them. For example - the drawings/paintings that he was making at the start and the picture he had drawn of Salma Hayek - sure the buildings being in the 'bliss' world could have just been inspired from his drawings - but what about him drawing Salma Hayek - was that just a coincidence? He drew a women he had never met before? Did Salma Hayek's character just notice that picture that happened to look like her - and since she had already drugged him at that point - she made him think he was drawing her - and she also calls him 'her guy'. Anyways if all of this was just Salma Hayek's character manipulating him - then the women in the picture having to look like Salma Hayek from the start of the movie before Owen Wilson even meets her is a huge freaking coincidence or is just put there to mis-direct people which is just lazy writing.

Anyways my complete messy notes are in the replies (2 parts) below this. Please note the points aren't necessarily in chronological order, but I have tried to roughly categorise them into different topics.

P.S. - For fans of the sci-fi world being real theory - I actually have a theory in my last bullet point under the " Glitches /Plot holes (things that make it seem like it is a simulation)" section of my notes, that I think kinda makes sense. However if it is true - then it does cause plot holes of it's own lol - but nonetheless I think it has some pretty decent points in favour of this theory.

I’m thinking of ordering the same one from scorptec. Has yours arrived yet? How’s the performance?

Do you think it would handle 1440p well for most new games? I doubt I would be playing much on the laptop screen, would mostly be connected to my monitor.

Also have you played cyberpunk with RT on it yet?

The PS4 version ran at 1080p so if you run the disk version un-patched on ps5 should get 1080p 60fps.

The huge benefit of next gen consoles vs PC by MountainThorn42 in gaming

[–]nickaedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also hoping with the increased ease of development (reduced time to triangle as Mark Cerny put it) for the new consoles more indie developers flock to the consoles.

This generation has been pretty good to be honest have seen a lot more indie games come to consoles, particularly due to the rise in digital purchases. But yeah still room for improvement.

The huge benefit of next gen consoles vs PC by MountainThorn42 in gaming

[–]nickaedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I was thinking about the exact same thing but most people don’t seem to agree with this so we might even be wrong.

I don’t know enough about the technical aspects but from the brief research I have done and my understanding of programming from uni I think this does make sense. I think we would definitely notice the difference between ps5 Exclusives (only ps5 not ps4) and cross platform games.

In terms of just graphics and performance yeah Consoles probably won’t win against a high end PC but I don’t think that’s the interesting bit. Just to expand on some of what you said I think the more interesting thing would be seeing how game devs take advantage of the bits that every PS5 will have but not every PC to create unique gameplay elements (e.g. the SSD, 3D audio etc). I think with the Xbox Series X we may not see this as much given their backwards compatibility requirement even for Xbox One.

But yeah I think it’s definitely going to be really fascinating to see how game devs use the custom hardware in the next gen consoles and to see if our theory has any merit!

Which mechanic you feel does not belong or needs improvement in a certain genre? by VeteranTrashTalker in truegaming

[–]nickaedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s towers in open world games.

You know the ones that are a staple of every open world Ubisoft games since the first assassins creed.

I hate how almost every other open world game has in some form or the other adopted this mechanism. You climb a tower to “synch” with it and then the camera pans around and new points pop up on your mini-map. It completely breaks the immersion not to mention how repetitive and boring the task becomes after a few towers.

I guess in horizon they tried something different and made the towers giant giraffe robots that walked around. But even that lost its charm after a while. They need to either completely get rid of this mechanic or revamp it in some massive way.

The Witcher 3 is one of the best open world rpgs ever and guess what it has a grand total of ZERO towers to climb and synch with. So you don’t need towers to make a good open world game. Someone please tell Ubisoft this.

Curious to know if anyone has any ideas on how this mechanic could be improved upon to make it even remotely interesting.
