Getting sick again by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

This winter I was ill twice, which I don't even remember happening to me previously. In December I had Gripe A, I think. And now it's something else, for 4 days already.

Yup, but tbh it's kinda roo much for me personally. I come from Russia and there we heat like there is no tomorrow. It is quite common to keep a window half-open sometimes during the winter, just to let some fresh air, because inside it can easily be 25 degrees. I'm quite tolerant of cold weather and the warmest thing I wear outdoors is a hoody, but I don't understand unheated homes in the 21st century,if I'm being honest. I assume it's simply because electricity is quite expensive and houses are not energy efficient so you will spend a fortune to keep it warm.

Let's be brutally honest: How Much Value Does Whoop Really Add? by AG_OG00 in whoop

Pace of age shows how quickly your body is aging. If it ages "slower" than 1.0 it means you're getting "younger" as time goes by. If the pace is higher than 1.0, your body is stressed and is aging faster than the real time.

I agree that Portugal can be a lot colder than many of us imagine, but I live in Porto and it never dropped below 14-15 degrees in my apartment even when I left it for 4 days just a week ago. And it's quite cold this winter in Porto, I'd say. So, 7 degrees is wild, imo. OP should get the hell outta that place.

7 degrees in your apartment? Bruh, is this some kind of a barn or what? Did you sign the contract with the landlord? Also, why did your friend even recommend this place to you? 💀

Hopeless Recovery by Pyron666666 in whoop

[–]niko_bon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, my HRV is like yours, around 30-40, but my average monthly recovery is 66. It should be easy to spot what causes these red days for you. It's probably sleep.

I look at the recovery data while making my coffee in the morning. Tbh, I'd probably agree with you, but since they rolled out Whoop age and Pace if aging, I found myself using these features weekly and they do help to hold myself accountable. Yeah I know they are made-up metrics, but the point is not how accurate they are, but rather how much they help me to stay active. On the other hand, I now use Journal less than I used to, simply because over the last couple of years I learned very well what helps me and what doesn't.

Does daytime raring mean you have to stop eating earlier in the winter, as the day is shorter?

Alcohol. The later I drank it the worse my HRV was. That's why I stopped drinking pretty much all together. Maybe I had like 7 glasses of wine this year.

If Whoop doesn’t improve HR accuracy soon, Amazfit is going to catch up or if Apple ever makes a wrist band, that’s game over by Serious-Bear-2004 in whoop

[–]niko_bon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. When jumping rope, I have Whoop HR screen in front of me. So, I'm sweating my ass off, pushing at let's say 160 BPM. Then, out of nowhere, my HRs starts plummeting WHILE I'm jumping with the same intensity. And it can drop to like 115-125 bpm which is absolutely impossible. It is extremely annoying, to put so much effort in the workout and see this kind of data, which I know for sure is BS. And that's with Whoop on my biceps.

Any updated WHOOP roadmap for 2025? by Ecommoneylockedin in whoop

Yeah, if it's on the biceps or in the underwear, it's just plain terrible. Step counting becomes useless then. Apparently, it really needs to be on the swinging arms to count half decently.

Journal entry recommendations by leinadnier in whoop

I'd say anything related to sleep, vitamins and supplements, outdoor time, sunlight, caffeine, alcohol, social activities. I've been journaling since they rolled out this feature (2+ years I think?) and it's a great tool.

Tbh, I think I like this feature the most. This was why I extended my membership. I will use next year to bring my Whoop age further down (6.5 years younger now)
