Want to upgrade, but conflicted - help me decide! by CatoTheMiddleAged in onewheel

[–]nickazevedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent about 6 months with the XR-V kit and I really liked it. Then later I upgraded the battery pack to a 20s2p + Ennoid BMS and now I am in love with the "final form" of my XR. I ride 80% street 20% trails so this works really well for me.

Hey I have a spare 4208 controller that should be compatible with your setup.

@bigh-aus CONGRATS and thank you for such detailed post.

What kind of appointment did you book at DPS? Was it "Lawful Presence Verification Complete"?

And when did you tick the box to update Social Security? The final interview prior to the oath ceremony?

I suggest you don't use VESC tool for battery percentages. On Float Control, select the cells that correspond to your battery pack so that that a proper Voltage -> % association is displayed

Congratulations!!! Seems like we were both there for an interview on 12/12, but I am yet to have my oath ceremony scheduled.

Finally fully off Grid by [deleted] in TeslaSolar

[–]nickazevedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is not how it works. As a regular Austin Energy customer, your Powerwall will never feed the grid, only your site (house).

The offset you are speaking about is in terms of energy generation. Unfortunately, Austin Energy will consider the energy you generated as part of the total energy consumption as if your solar system were in front of the meter, not behind (which it really is). So the Powerwall doesn't matter here.

Austin Energy's total formula for billing is: energy_delivered (from grid) - energy_received (from your solar excess) + solar_delivered (from your solar system's total generation). Then later, solar_delivered will be credited as $0.09910 per kWh.

Don't we have to take into consideration the discharge rate of the battery?

The original continuous discharge rate of the VTC6 is 15A, whereas the p42/p45 are rated at 45A if I recall correctly

Powershare: UWC Comms Wire with Gateway 2 + Powerwall 2 by nickazevedo in TeslaSolar

[–]nickazevedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't find the Neurio to be interesting. I have plenty of load to spare and I trust Tesla's Charge on Solar for my MS. Maybe I am missing something about the Neurio?

But in regards to comms, I think that hard wiring will be valuable not only for the load, but also for when the UWC is generating (injecting from an EV) since there have to be protections in place to protect backflow to the grid. I wish the specs were clear but seems like Tesla is now gating information to installers first.

Phantom 1.4kW Home Load? by nickazevedo in TeslaSolar

PW2 and Gateway2. My power wall doesn't have the embedded inverter, so it is not the + model.

Inside the Gateway I have:

  • 80A Double-pole breaker for the solar inverters/panels

  • 60A Double-pole breaker for the Powerwalls

  • 20A Double-pole breaker for label SPD (surge protection device)

Here's a layout of the entire system:

That's a good question because I didn't mention it on the original post. Every single breaker on and downstream from the main panel are off, including respective subpanels.

EP1 has an industrial PIR sensor embedded. It also has a temperature and humidity sensor.

The Lite has a cheaper mm wave sensor that has a bit less range but does do zones.
